[Zhen Hai Cosplay] Elegance and Composure in Azur Lane

Putting on this dark modified Traditional Chinese style Qipao for Zhen Hai cosplay, the first thing that caught my eye was the golden piping around the collar and the delicate string ties at the neck. The main color tone of the outfit is black, accented by translucent tulle splicing across the chest and lace trimming on the shoulders, creating an air of dignified mystery while maintaining a breathable touch. The black flower and white tassels on one side of the headpiece strike a perfect balance, combining the unique layering of anime costumes with a classic aesthetic.

For this shoot, an outdoor bamboo grove was deliberately chosen as the backdrop, where a grey concrete low wall and lush green vegetation form a very clean environment. Under natural light, the green hues contrast coolly with the black Qipao, making the subject stand out vividly. To suit Zhen Hai's serene, composed nature, I opted for seated poses, leveraging the height difference of the stone wall to shift my center of gravity. For instance, turning slightly sideways and lifting my leg elongated lower body lines, where the texture of Black stockings and the glossy sheen of high heels reflected varied layers under shifting light—a visual focus I particularly emphasized in this set.

The outfit features intriguing accessory details, such as solid black fingertips on the gloves, delicate lace trim around the upper arms, and traditional Chinese-style metal and jade ornaments hanging at the waist. In movement, these elements produce subtle clinking and swaying, requiring controlled motions to avoid disheveling the hair. Worth noting is the print on the pantyhose—the subtle jacquard butterfly pattern is understated on the Black stockings base, adding a clever touch to the ensemble. Glossy black high heels with strap designs flatter the instep contours, helping maintain a tall, dignified silhouette whether standing or sitting gracefully.

For hair and makeup, matching the outfit's deep color palette, I chose bright red contact lenses paired with broad reddish-pink shading under the eyes. This eye makeup highlights the clarity of the gaze even in dim or outdoor natural light, giving facial expressions a calm yet soft warmth. Since the hairstyle is a classic straight long wig with blunt bangs, constantly fixing sideburn strands was necessary as outdoor breezes easily tousled them. Achieving the ideal seated angle took multiple leg-lifting variations—balancing my posture while preventing awkward shadows from folded fabric—demanding seamless teamwork with the photographer.

What makes cosplay so fascinating is that the moment you put on the costume, you instantly channel the character's presence. The tailoring and accents of this outfit naturally prompt you to straighten your spine and assume an air of calm confidence. Although shooting on stone benches in an outdoor bamboo forest had its challenges—such as finding comfortable seating on hard concrete or adjusting hems repeatedly to avoid dust—seeing the harmony of bamboo light shadows and subject poses in the final shots made every effort worthwhile. Whether it is the rich black-and-gold colorway or the calm, self-assured aura conveyed before the lens, it perfectly captures my original vision for this Zhen Hai cosplay.
