I'm really satisfied with how this Azur Lane Cheshire Lunar New Year Qipao look turned out at the convention photoshoot.

When I got the photos back from the photographer, the perspective composition of the first shot immediately grabbed my attention. The ambient lighting at the venue was actually quite complex, as the display cases had a strong yellow glow that interfered with skin tones and costume colors. To achieve the ideal effect, the photographer specifically avoided noon when the lighting was most chaotic, using the yellow border lights of the display cases as accent background lighting. This preserved depth of field without degrading the subject's skin tones. The first shot utilized wide-angle perspective principles, placing the red prop in the foreground to stretch the vertical depth while showcasing the high-slit red Qipao and white long socks. This composition delivered a strong visual impact, perfectly capturing the highlight of this outfit.

The costume design is rich in detail. The neckline features a halterneck cut, combining white fabric with black semi-sheer mesh and printed white rose motifs across the chest. A gold Chinese frog button serves as the central focal point, standing out against the black mesh background. The lower red Qipao features a high-slit design with delicate 3D gold floral embroidery, complemented by a plush white fur shawl. This cool-and-warm color pairing enhances contrast, giving the overall look a refined balance of elegance and allure alongside cuteness.

Regarding styling prep, the biggest headache was managing the wig. The base is a grayish-brown with teal-blue highlights; if highlighted hair strands become frizzy or misaligned, it quickly looks jarring and cheap. Before heading out, I used styling spray repeatedly to ensure the hair direction remained neat and faithful to the character's traits. The head accessories—white ruffles and red-lined cat ears—were equally crucial. I paid special attention to symmetry when putting them on, as even a slight tilt would ruin the composition's balance.

As for posing, the first shot emphasized dynamic movement and perspective. To showcase the prop effectively in front of the lens, I carefully adjusted the angle while holding the red segmented prop to keep my hands steady. The second photo offered a style variation: posing hands into classic cat paws with a slight smile and tongue out, aiming to capture the character's playful, lively, and uninhibited personality.

Shootings at conventions always test on-site coordination—from changing outfits and adjusting accessories to communicating poses. The live feedback was incredibly enthusiastic, and this look had high recognition in the crowd. Although the shoot was rushed, doing extensive homework on makeup and costume details beforehand—such as choosing eyeshadow colors and wig trimming proportions—helped stay true to the character's essence. Overall, bringing a beloved character to life and capturing high-quality Cosplay photography images is an immensely rewarding experience.
