[Tachibana Hikari cosplay] Transforming into Blue Archive's Energetic Cheerleader at Firefly ACG Expo

This outfit of Tachibana Hikari's Cheerleader uniform from Blue Archive was one of my most thoroughly prepared sets recently. The outfit is dominated by blue-and-white color-blocking; the top is a midriff-baring halter sports crop top decorated with a white tie at the neckline and clearly visible lettering printed across the chest. The bottom is a matching pleated mini skirt with corresponding dark blue trim lines along the hem. To match the character's signature features, I wore a light green long straight wig and pointed elf ear props. As for the bright yellow floating halo, it was supported by hidden thin wires; to achieve a natural levitating effect on camera, I repeatedly verified angles with the photographer before shooting.

For this shoot, the gear used was a Sony A7M5 paired with 7Artisans lenses. I must say this combination performed exceptionally stably under the complex lighting conditions of the convention venue. The Sony A7M5's autofocus was swift; even when waving the yellow cheerleading pompoms back and forth for dynamic candid captures, the focus stayed accurately locked onto my face and eyes, greatly boosting shooting efficiency. Coupled with the rendering characteristics of 7Artisans lenses, highlight edge transitions were delicate—avoiding distortion from over-sharpening while preserving realistic light-and-shadow falloff. In post-processing color grading, to echo the theme of "Hikari" (Light/Orange), I intentionally micro-adjusted the overall color balance toward warm orange and lower saturation without excessively dimming ambient light, giving skin a more textured look.

Regarding posing, these three photos showcase distinctly different states. The first photo features a seated pose on a white fluffy rug—a very relaxed moment holding pompoms while making a hand gesture, guiding the viewer's eye along the heart-shaped lanyard toward the subject and perfectly showcasing the character's girlish charm. The second photo is a standing posture; to better display the overall tailoring of the outfit, I selected a side-profile angle. Since this Cheerleader uniform heavily emphasizes the waistline, side angles highlight waist contours beautifully while letting the pleated skirt's movement look more natural. The third photo was a pose that heavily tested core strength: kneeling on one knee with the left hand supporting on the floor while raising the large yellow-and-white pompom high with the right arm. To stabilize this high-center-of-gravity move, I had to press most weight onto my left leg while engaging my core tightly. Though exhausting, the resulting body extension looked magnificent, achieving an optimal leg line stretch paired with white thigh-high socks. In terms of styling, combining over-the-knee socks with clean white sneakers not only visually elongated leg proportions, but also made the ensemble stand out vividly against the convention center's gray tiled flooring.

The venue for this shoot was the Firefly ACG Expo, where indoor lighting was quite complex. The ceiling featured dense circular lighting fixtures above clean gray floor tiles. We walked around the venue to locate a corner with even lighting and a relatively clean background. Although the convention was bustling and noisy, the photographer was exceptional, always quickly capturing the exact instant I held a pose. As a cosplayer, every photoshoot feels like a reinterpretation of the character. Tachibana Hikari is set as radiant, vibrant, and relentlessly positive, so leaving behind extra self-consciousness in front of the lens to project a confident, energetic state was key. Fashion, props, hair, and makeup are merely the shell; conveying character personality through the lens is what I care about most in every location or convention shoot.

Although this convention photos session involved many hassles like searching for locations, adjusting wigs, and fine-tuning props, seeing the final output made every bit of hard work feel worthwhile. I personally feel very satisfied with this cheerleader-themed shoot.
