The JK uniform photo set shot today aims mainly to showcase a fresh style photography vibe in summer. For the clothing, I chose a white long-sleeve shirt with a sailor collar; the fabric is relatively crisp and not prone to wrinkles. There is a light blue small bear embroidery on the left chest, which is very adorable. It is paired with a light blue plaid tie and a pleated skirt of the same color scheme. The overall color tone is dominated by blue and white, clean and refreshing. For the hairstyle, I kept blunt bangs and tied small braids on both sides using light blue ribbons, making the overall look appear more lively. On my feet, I wore classic black loafers and white mid-calf socks; this pairing visually elongates the leg lines and is also very suitable for this Japanese school style.
The shooting location was chosen in an overpass and stairway area in the city. The orange metal railings and grid here are a major highlight. The bright orange and the cool-toned blue and white plaid skirt of my outfit formed a great color contrast, preventing the frame from appearing too plain. The first set of photos was shot next to capsule toy machines; the colorful machines and mechanical feel added some daily life flavor to the frame. I turned sideways to operate the capsule toy machine while the photographer candidly captured the moment I turned my head, resulting in a very natural look in the eyes without feeling like a deliberate pose. Scenes with this kind of interactivity make it easier to get into character compared to plain backdrops.
In terms of pose guidance, I tried my resting state to relax and treated the photographer like a friend to chat with. Leaning against the railing is a very useful pose: one leg can be slightly bent with the weight on one leg, the other hand hanging naturally or holding the railing, and the body leaning backward slightly, which can showcase a nice body curve. When sitting on the steps, I would naturally extend one leg and retract the other, with both hands holding the tie or making a simple gesture. The photographer also tried a high-angle overhead shooting perspective, utilizing the leading lines of the stairs to give the frame more depth. To avoid cropping the edges of the subject, blank space was intentionally left during composition. For the photos holding the tie, the photographer asked me to imagine the feeling of adjusting the tie without deliberately looking at the camera, producing an effect with an inadvertent sense of beauty.
Although summer light is abundant, it is also relatively harsh, so we chose to shoot a bit later in the afternoon when the light is softer. Using a large-aperture lens to blur the background greenery and buildings highlighted the main subject. In post-processing color grading, the contrast was slightly lowered and the brightness of shadow parts was increased, giving the overall frame a translucent, low-saturation Japanese style photography feel. The light blue hair ribbons fluttered in the wind, accompanied by the occasional breeze blowing through the hair, and the dynamic candid shots looked more vivid than static posed ones. A small incident occurred during the shoot: the knob of the capsule toy machine got slightly stuck, capturing my expression of applying force, which actually increased the authenticity of the photos.
Looking back after the shoot concluded, the match between this outfit and the scene was extremely high. Without complex props, this set of photos was completed relying solely on natural light and simple scenes. Every time I see the finished photos, I can recall that afternoon filled with sunshine and breeze, and the summer vibe is indeed maxed out. Regarding background choices, railings and steps with strong lines were chosen as much as possible to increase the layering of the frame.
