The theme of this shoot is the cat girl form filled with a homey feel, and the location was chosen at a Guangzhou guesthouse with wonderful lighting. For this set of works, I wanted to showcase a lazy, casual daily state. In terms of makeup and hair, a white-and-pink gradient long wig was adopted, paired with plush-textured cat ears hair accessories and a pink bow, plus large-diameter blue colored contacts to make the gaze look clearer and softer. The costume selected was a loose white oversized T-shirt, with the hemline just covering the base of the thighs, paired with over-the-knee white stockings—a combination that heavily emphasizes a home-style girlhood vibe. The blue-and-pink color-schemed print on the front of the T-shirt also echoes beautifully with the hair accessories. The overall visage is quite clean, only focusing on the brightness of the eye makeup, which was also done to guarantee the best pupil color presentation under natural light.
The shooting scenes primarily utilized several areas within the guesthouse. The first set was by the wooden floor near the window, holding the white curtain with my hand; the natural light from outside shone from the side, creating a very soft halo on the wig and cat ears, making the entire frame exceptionally translucent. The sitting posture for this set of photos was adjusted for a long time to ensure the smoothness of the lines of the white stockings when my legs were crossed, while balancing the interaction with the curtain on the upper body. The second scene shifted to the bedroom, where the beige-toned bedding paved a warm background tone. The lying posture used a top-down downward composition, with the hand naturally resting next to the cheek, making the frame appear more lively and agile. When shooting this set, special attention was also paid to the negative space between the edges of the white stockings and the T-shirt hem; the photographer found a very comfortable angle, preserving this relaxed state beautifully.
The wooden counter in the kitchen area was also highly suitable for a Japanese home-style photoshoot; the ceramic vases and glass bottles arranged on the storage cabinets and wooden shelves behind enriched the scene. Leaning against the edge of the counter required maintaining body balance, with one foot stepping on a rattan chair while both hands opened up, building up an unconstrained sense of interaction. In post-processing, no overly complex color grading was applied, preserving the natural color tones cast by the guesthouse's original lighting, which also infuses this set of works with more daily life flavor. The entire shooting process was quite smooth. Finding these natural light corners that could be utilized in the guesthouse in advance led to excellent tacit cooperation with the photographer, and the vibe of the finished photos turned out more relaxed than anticipated. Sitting on the wooden floor for too long after putting on white stockings left a tiny mark on the knees, but it just happens that this stay-at-home state doesn't need to be edited too perfectly, keeping a touch of realism in this session of cosplay.
