[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- A Scorching One-Day Trip to Universal Studios

Going to Universal Studios this time was honestly scorching and exhausting, but also ridiculously fun! I originally thought going in cosplay would cause issues at security—especially since I hadn't registered facial recognition beforehand—but to my surprise, I breezed right through. The staff members were super sweet and let me into the park without a hitch.

The weather was brutally hot; standing in the sun for just a moment made me feel like I was melting. My outfit had black-and-white color blocking, layered lace, ruffles, plus thick white stockings and a wig, so my energy drained rapidly shortly after entering. The haunted house was what I looked forward to most. Even though waiting in line felt like on the verge of heatstroke and left my head spinning, I figured since I was already here, I had to experience it no matter what! The atmospheric immersion inside was phenomenal, with jump-scares and sound effects hitting all the right notes; the moment the adrenaline kicked in, my dizziness vanished, making it an absolute thrill.

This time I wore Rem's classic maid dress, which is packed with intricate details: white lace neckline, slim black ribbon bow, purple ribbon, and flared lace cuffs. The wig was paired with plush cat ears, topped with a small pink hair clip. To withstand the harsh daylight in the theme park, I applied a generous layer of matte foundation alongside plenty of highlighter and body glitters. Truth be told, summer cosplay is a real endurance test—sweat kept dripping, touch-ups couldn't keep pace, and the wind tangled the wig slightly, but I did my best to hold character composure. While the fabric looked stylishly substantial, it essentially acted like a walking sauna outdoors, especially the plush cat ears that quickly built up sweat. Still, for complete fidelity to the design, it was totally worth enduring.

I originally planned to take more outdoor shots across the park, given the ticket cost and effort put into styling. But the sweltering heat made it physically impossible, and the smartphone became scalding to the touch, so I didn't snap very many photos. Most shots were rushed mirror selfies in indoor locker rooms, shaded spots, or glass reflections. The park pass clutched in the photos was an entry essential. I also took top-down angles to capture my favorite white stockings and Mary Jane shoes. To get a decent full-body picture, I searched for the right angle before the locker room mirror, where the indoor air conditioning practically saved my life.

Walking through the park, park-goers occasionally recognized me as Rem, gasping quietly or snapping discreet photos from afar, which made me genuinely happy—that feeling of validation offsets half the exhaustion. Despite a few missed photo ops, the theme park experience was fantastic. Taking it step by step, I checked out several attractions; the indoor queue at Minion Land served as my personal sanctuary from the heat, and the architecture in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was breathtaking—even without wearing Hogwarts robes, watching everyone else in costume was great fun. Cosplay inherently demands physical stamina, and doing it in extreme heat relies purely on love for the character. If I visit again, I will definitely pick a cooler season! Though grueling, this outing created a truly unique summer memory.
