[Lan Yan cosplay] The Cool and Ethereal Portrayal of Genshin Impact: Song of the Welkin Moon and Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana

For today's Lan Yan costume, we made many adjustments regarding the fabric and details. The main body is a light blue-green halter-neck off-the-shoulder short dress, with silver metal decorations and gray tassels hanging at the chest. To capture that cool yet slightly mysterious vibe from the design, instead of choosing common prints for the skirt hem, I manually spliced geometric broken-line patterns in four colors: dark blue, dark red, white, and light green. For this pair of independent dark blue-cyan sleeve covers on the arms, a lot of effort went into the hollowed-out silver metal armor plates along the edges, ensuring both a visually tough look and comfortable wear.

The wig is a standard long straight Hime-cut style, featuring blunt bangs paired with long sideburns on both sides. I also added a light green hair ribbon myself and the iconic crescent-shaped silver metal accessory on the right side. Combined with chains and long golden earrings, the visual center of gravity of the entire head was stabilized. The dark blue leg garter on the right leg and the chain decoration with silver tassels on the left leg were also custom-made. The black platform high-heeled sandals, featuring four-color straps of black, red, white, and silver along with ankle tassels, fully brought out the layering of the overall outfit.

When shooting this set of photos, I purposely chose a solid cyan gradient backdrop and a black cylindrical base as props. The overall lighting was evenly bright and cool-toned. To make the skin tone still look translucent under high brightness, I applied highlighters to my shoulders, collarbones, and legs beforehand, and intentionally preserved this slightly reflective texture during post-processing.

In terms of action design, I tried different poses to match this outfit. When sitting, I would cross my legs as much as possible or put the weight on one leg, which could showcase the geometric patterns of the skirt hem while highlighting leg lines. The looking-back photo was taken standing sideways on the round stage, with my left hand resting on my right shoulder, my right arm extended outward, and my left leg bent backward, which preserves a slight light, dynamic feel within a static photo. There are also a few photos standing front-facing with the body slightly turned, one hand posing while the other hangs down naturally, mainly intended to clearly present the silhouette of the entire outfit and the texture of the metal pieces.

The character concept of Lan Yan, combined with the concepts of Song of the Welkin Moon and Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana, gives a contradictory feeling of being both heavy and ethereal. Therefore, during the shoot, my expression was kept relatively calm, and my gaze remained focused in front of the lens. Since I really enjoy studying costume structures when cosplaying ordinarily, this time it was also an attempt at this exotic fantasy style. After the shoot, I checked the raw photos, and the expression of this outfit under cool lighting is truly wonderful, with the reflections of every metal accessory being just right. It overall presented the effect I envisioned, making it a highly satisfying creative experience.
