[Lauma cosplay] Blue and White Elf Style: Quiet Light and Shadow on the Swing

Bringing this Lauma look to life took a lot of thought from concept to execution. What gave me the biggest headache was undoubtedly securing those two long white horns and the elf ears.

While shooting the swing scenes, my head needed to maintain absolute central balance; otherwise, the horns could easily detach from where they were glued. I really loved the deep blue-purple gradient texture of the wig for this shoot, which created a sharp visual contrast against the white horns on top.

Regarding the outfit, the overall palette revolved around aqua blue and pure white. The crisscrossed white ribbons across the chest combined with a golden V-shaped accent made the upper body look lightweight yet rich in delicate detail. The sheer tulle arm sleeves were a fantastic addition; catching the gentle breeze or draping naturally, their flowing dynamic motion suited the swing prop perfectly.

The set chosen for this shoot was quite minimalist—mainly a wooden swing, artificial turf, and a garland of pink vine blossoms along the top. The swinging motion added considerable challenge to the shoot, as capturing a relaxed pose with sharp eye focus in mid-motion really puts candid photography skills to the test. Much of the time, I half-sat on the swing seat or wrapped my arms around the thick hanging hemp ropes to stabilize my center of gravity. Particularly for the seated pose in Photo 3, extending my leg lines naturally while highlighting the blue crisscross laces at my ankles and pale blue nail polish served to echo the blue hues of the entire costume.

The makeup and styling for this character were another area I poured a lot of heart into. Since the elf ears and horns are so distinctive, heavy eye makeup was avoided in favor of a sheer, clean approach to highlight the clarity in her gaze. Under the sunlight, the blue contact lenses took on a crystal-clear, glass-like translucency. The small accessories suspended at the waist added dimensional weight and depth.

I especially love the slender blue chains wrapping around my right thigh, which, paired with the high-slit hemline, visually elongated my silhouette whether walking or sitting. The rounded blue, green, and purple plush props on the floor, though simple ambient accents, infused the frame with a touch of fairy-tale whimsy. The whole shoot felt wonderfully relaxing, immersing me fully in the character's tranquil harmony with breezes and greenery. Blending natural sets with the character's design often yields the most effortless beauty. With less heavy post-processing and more pure authenticity, that true state is exactly what I wanted to capture in this Genshin Impact cosplay shoot.
