To coordinate with the birthday celebration countdown for Genshin Impact's Nilou, preparation for this outfit actually began with fabric selection. The main material of the blue dress wasn't ordinary chiffon, but organza with subtle shimmer particles layered with composite ice silk. When these two materials are layered together, the skirt hem creates a beautiful dynamic shimmering wave under good outdoor light; in slightly dimmer lighting, it presents a tranquil blue with a hint of grey tone. The red hair shade was chosen with a vibrant red-orange texture rather than a rigid pure red, so it undergoes light and dark brightness shifts under sunlight or in shadows. The headpiece construction was a difficult point; the golden horns needed to balance weight with a rounded appearance, ultimately utilizing lightweight EVA crafting with hollowed interiors for weight reduction, making it add virtually no noticeable burden to the scalp when worn.

On the day of the shoot, we actually spent quite a long time in the garden waiting for the sun's angle. The selected white wrought-iron gate was draped with cascading roses in a pale pinkish-white, which perfectly neutralized the strong visual impact brought by the red-and-blue color contrast, adding a soft transition to the overall image. The three photos showcase different shooting concepts. The first photo with holding flowers and looking down mainly aims to show the skirt layers and static softness of the face; the posture holding flowers deliberately exerts slight force in the wrists, making arm lines appear slimmer against the wide sleeves. The second photo looking back over the shoulder focuses on details of the shoulder blades and crossed back straps; those silver heart-shaped stickers were added on the fly, because a completely bare back would look overly plain—a tiny embellishment that adds personal cuteness without stealing the outfit's spotlight. The third photo leverages the vertical space of the scene; when I unfurled the veil and skirt gauze together, the blue gauze and white wrought-iron gate formed a frame, with the floral arch echoing the figure's extended pose. This picture actually added a lens flare chromatic aberration effect, but to enhance the hydro element atmosphere, I deliberately retained this visual effect.

Beyond the hard technical requirements for good photos, getting into character is also crucial. The character Nilou in Genshin Impact inherently possesses a calm and steadfast quality; the lore mentions "If Nilou is happy, it doesn't matter if the Akademiya falls"—this attitude of putting emotional value above all else allowed me to feel particularly relaxed during this photoshoot. Since there was no need to deliberately project aggressiveness or cool detachment, simply conveying a carefree state aligned perfectly with the original intention of this birthday shoot. In terms of action design, to avoid stiffness when standing straight, there were subtle body tilts or slight arm folds, making posture before the camera closer to a natural breathing form. The skirt of the costume actually had a large sway when walking; to prevent accidental exposure on location shoot, double-layer anti-transparency processing was done internally, while inner linings at the thigh edges were tightened, ensuring a neat look even when spreading arms open or squatting down.

Makeup was tailored for this red wig by deliberately lightening the eyebrows and applying subtle blending around the lens edges with light green contact lenses, making the eyes look watery and translucent. Lip color was a earthy light nude-pink shade without exaggerated bright colors, as we agreed high-saturation lip colors would overload facial tones and ruin the overall refreshing look. This cosplay location shoot took a few hours; by the time we wrapped up in the evening, dusk was falling and lighting gear was packed up, but looking at these preliminary edited photos, the tranquility of a European garden combined with the character's expressive personality turned out genuinely pleasing to the eye.
