Standing beneath the black metal trusses at the Anime convention venue, as the top light converged on my blue-and-white gradient hair strands and pure white wings, the phrase "Gods are revered as gods because of humanity's existence" naturally surfaced in my mind.
For this Angel styling photoshoot, the most thoughtful aspect lay in the harmony of colors and textures. The wig featured a gradient fade from a white base to light aqua blue, with hair sheen and smoothness meticulously styled. The delicate gold chains adorning the headpiece along with the signature curled blue ahoge served as the finishing touches of the look, ensuring character recognition while adding a lively touch. For makeup, I chose bright blue contact lenses to make my eyes appear translucent and clear under the venue's strong overhead lights, while picking a warm-toned coral pink lip color to neutralize the distance brought by the overall cool white-and-blue palette, leaving the character with a soft, vibrant vitality.
The details of the costume are very refined. The off-the-shoulder cut paired with a white lace choker beautifully showcased the neck and shoulder lines, while the dangling golden chain on the chest and the striking bright blue ribbon at the waist securely locked visual focus. The cuffs featured puffy white tulle splicing, making the semi-transparent white arm sleeves look both lightweight and ethereal. Of course, the most eye-catching part of the entire look was the pair of giant white feather wings. As a physical prop, its frame structure was sturdy and quite sizable, requiring extra care with balance when walking around and posing at the Anime convention venue. Yet it was precisely this physical weight that helped me quickly immerse into character as Focalors during the shoot.
For pose design, I chose a frozen moment with my right hand gently placed against my chest and my left hand naturally extending forward. Visually, this posture creates an open guidance that, combined with the lines of the spreading wings, conveys a sense of holiness, compassion, or a tranquil serenity as if unleashing divine power. To achieve the ideal result, the photographer intentionally used the dark background trusses at the venue as a backdrop, using off-camera flashes to illuminate the main subject and create an exceptionally strong high contrast. This contrast between dark background and bright subject minimized visual distractions from the cluttered venue environment, allowing the entire photo to exude a minimalist yet divine atmosphere.
The Anime convention venue was actually very noisy, with crowds constantly flowing and many fans and photographers interacting around us. Moving through the crowd in this outfit required constant caution to avoid bumps, especially since the huge wings could easily brush past pedestrians. Yet whenever someone paused to praise costume details or a photographer enthusiastically requested a shot, the sense of accomplishment brought by Furina cosplay felt exceptionally real. I suppose the reason why gods are revered as gods because of humanity's existence is that, in the context of cosplay, a character becomes truly alive in 3D reality through the recognition and gazes of the audience and fans.
The shooting process didn't rely on overly complex techniques, but rather on real-time site reactions and emotional capture. I made an effort to refine my expression, appearing composed and resolute while retaining a soft touch of compassion. When the shutter clicked and light froze upon fabric folds and hair edges, I felt as though I had briefly crossed the dimensional barrier. This set of photos records not only the physical appearance of this outfit, but also my two-way understanding of the character Focalors and on-site light and shadow within the unique space of an anime convention. Without forced melodrama, it simply presents the expressions and atmosphere of that moment with authentic fidelity.
