This Raiden Mei armor styling set has finally come to fruition, and a lot of thought went into it from preparation to shooting. Mei's design in Honkai Impact 3rd has always hit right home for me, especially the sense of conflict combining mecha and flesh. To faithfully recreate that sense of oppression and combat power, the giant red mechanical left arm alone kept us tossing and turning for a long time. The prop maker used EVA foam combined with 3D-printed parts, finished with a matte metallic spray paint on the surface, and treated the internal purple-light circuit boards to be luminous. As soon as powered on, that dazzling purple light of high-energy reaction instantly emerges, matching the purple energy ring behind, maximizing the sci-fi vibe. During the shoot, the floating mechanical beast-head prop was actually quite heavy; it required the assistant to use a support rod nearby to adjust the angle so we could capture that perfectly suspended state. The long sword in the right hand couldn't be taken lightly either—the blue flowing light on the blade echoes the purple energy ring in the back, and post-processing slightly added some light effects just to highlight that Herrscher of Thunder atmosphere. Assembling these props alone took more than half an hour, and between shooting intervals, the mechanical arm had to be quickly disassembled for a rest. In terms of clothing, this tight-fitting battle suit has extremely high demands for body fit, and the black, white, and red color-blocked design is classic. To stay true to the character, I also specially prepared white stockings; the red cloud pattern lines on the legs were custom-made by a factory, and the fabric has a slight micro-reflection, giving it a fantastic texture under studio lighting. Once worn, the overall sharp and neat feel of a mecha female warrior instantly shines through. The long black skirt train at the back of the waist is actually movable; when there's a slight breeze or when walking around during the shoot, the feeling of the skirt train flying up is extremely cool. For makeup and styling, I checked several stores for the dark blue long-hair wig before finally finding one with appropriate hair volume and easy-to-manage smoothness, and a lot of fixing glue was applied to the scalp to secure the black horns on top of the head. The eye makeup enlarged the proportion of purple pupils, with cool-toned eyeshadow, paired with a relatively stern expression. Without deliberately making too many movements, as long as the gaze is on point, Mei's outer-cold-inner-warm aura comes right out. The entire shooting process was actually quite tiring; because the equipment is extremely heavy, maintaining that relaxed yet powerful sitting posture really tests core and waist strength. However, seeing the metallic-textured red-and-black armor colliding with the purple-blue energy light effects in the final photos, coupled with the luster of the white stockings, that visual tension combining cyberpunk and two-dimensional fantasy makes me truly feel that all the hard work was completely worth it.
