This photoshoot features Elysia's Miss Sweetie Maid outfit look from Honkai Impact 3rd. Since the character has distinct iconic traits, capturing fidelity was the top priority during preparation. Starting with makeup and styling: the short pink wig required careful shaping of the bangs' curve, and to better fit my face, I paired it with elf ears and secured small curved black horns on top. For the eyes, I chose blue colored contact lenses paired with pinkish eyeshadow and false lashes to make my eyes look large and luminous, like stepping straight out of an anime. The eye makeup emphasized a natural healthy flush—not too heavy, or it would lose the character's vibrant spark. For lipstick, I opted for a glossy red finish that complements the hair color while exuding vitality.
The two selfies at the Anime convention venue were taken with a phone. Although the indoor lighting wasn't very even at the time, wearing this white ruffled top paired with a black choker made me feel full of energy. Flashing a peace sign was meant to convey the character's lively, playful everyday vibe. Taking selfies in the bustling environment of an Anime convention actually gave a wonderful sense of breaking the fourth wall and standing in reality.
Later, I went with a friend to shoot the proper cosplay photoshoot photos, which is the third picture. The dress of Miss Sweetie is designed very gorgeously, featuring a black-and-blue flared skirt accented with white tulle and white rose embellishments on the hem. Wearing such an intricately crafted gown naturally gives you a princess-like feeling. To showcase the layered structure of the dress, I adopted a half-kneeling pose to let the skirt spread out elegantly. The white gloves, White stockings, and black high-heeled leather shoes looked exceptionally harmonious together in this ensemble. Wrapped in White stockings from thighs to calves, the leg lines appeared very sleek under the lighting. During the shoot, the photographer chose a dark-toned indoor setting, using background lights to create beautiful bokeh circles. The dark backdrop made me stand out as the primary subject, giving the black, white, and blue palette a sophisticated feel that combines the sweetness of a Maid outfit with the cool charisma of a combat character. The outfit boasts rich details—from the neckline to the waist ties, down to the lace trim—all requiring precise adjustments. While the shoot was exhausting, seeing the ambient quality captured in the finished shots made all the fatigue vanish instantly.
Preparing this character's costume actually took considerable thought. For instance, to ensure the dress held its crisp shape, special attention was paid to the waist and petticoat. Camera sensors absorb light differently, especially in low-light environments, so refining the lighting during editing to give the White stockings rich texture without blowing out into flat white required great delicacy. The half-kneeling pose easily created wrinkles at the knees in the White stockings, requiring constant readjustments before each click of the shutter—not only to flatter the leg shape, but also to maintain the outfit's pristine look. Walking around at the Anime convention was somewhat cumbersome since the skirt had multiple inner linings, requiring me to lift the hem slightly as I walked. Additionally, the horns were secured with special prosthetic adhesive, meaning I couldn't sweat too much, which felt a bit stuffy. After taking those two selfies, we immediately moved to an indoor venue for the photoshoot, where the lighting was far more controllable. Overall, Elysia inherently possesses immense approachable warmth; portraying her requires not only focus on posture and eye contact, but also capturing that cheerful and optimistic energy. Through this photo set, I hope to fully convey the charm of this styling. The flash at the event and the studio lights playing across the lustrous wig, white skirt, and White stockings created a gorgeous interplay of light and shadow. The full ensemble looks remarkably harmonious, and I am very satisfied with the overall result.
