[Kal'tsit cosplay] Arknights Esperanta styling, green tactical style mirror selfie

The preparation for this Arknights Kal'tsit Esperanta styling took about two weeks. The cut of the clothing was matched by referencing the original art and a relatively rigid tactical style in fan creations. Because the theme is a fan creation setting leaning towards daily life like 'Until the Earth Turns into a Lime' and 'Shushu's Rhodes Island Daily Life', in terms of fabric selection, I tried to use a material with a slightly stiff texture to support the entire clothing design. The light yellowish-green fabric of the top is spliced with white and black lines. To restore that structural sense combining medical and tactical elements, I hung quite a few accessories on the black tactical belt at the waist, including a waist pouch printed with a white cross logo. Since the setting leans towards a daily life feel, the overall look brings a sense of lightweight agility amidst the seriousness. The triangular cutout and metal buttons on the chest are also intentionally retained details. The wig uses silver-white long straight hair with trimmed blunt bangs. To make the top of the head look fluffier, a simple height-padding treatment was done. The hair quality of the wig is relatively smooth, and the reflection under indoor light is not serious, looking quite close to the texture of the original design. Before wearing the wig, I used a hair net to wrap all real hair flat and neatly, which can ensure the wig edges look natural. The animal ear props were the part that took more thought this time. To make them look less flat, the inside of the ears used light yellow fuzz with dark edges. Wearing them required using a headband and hairpins for hidden fixation, and I was worried about them falling off during the entire shoot. In terms of makeup, I lowered the facial saturation, used earthy tones as a base for the eyeshadow, pulled out a bit of sharpness in the eyeliner, and matched it with light green contact lenses to make the gaze look slightly stern, getting as close as possible to Kal'tsit's rational aura. The base makeup pursues a cool-toned matte feel, and the lipstick also chose a relatively low-key cool color system. In terms of poses, this time I chose a single-knee squat posture combined with holding a smartphone with a red vortex pattern phone case for a mirror selfie. Because the squat posture easily compresses height, I leaned my body center of gravity slightly backward and extended my left leg forward. This can make good use of the lens perspective distortion, which not only elongates the leg proportions but also fully displays the combination of over-the-knee black stockings and platform shoes. At the same time, the angle of the arm holding the phone happened to capture the structure and stitching details on the chest of the clothes. The green cape webbing hanging down on the left side, printed with the word RHODES, also hung down along the side of the body, filling the blank space at the edge of the frame. The shooting environment is relatively simple, being an indoor wood-grain feature wall. The floor is a reflective textured material, and I used a bit of weak ground fill light to form a soft reflection, increasing the layering of the frame. I didn't use exaggerated post-processing for skin smoothing or body shaping, mainly adjusting brightness and contrast to make the fluorescent green lines of the clothes more prominent, while slightly darkening the background to make the subject stand out more. This outfit looks highly fitting, but actually wearing it is quite exhausting, especially the binding straps at the waist and shoulders, which need to be adjusted to a proper tightness, otherwise it's very easy to pop open when squatting. On the day of the shoot, about four or five different angles were shot, and finally this selfie with a relatively complete composition, no obstructions, and clear views of the full clothing appearance and leg lines was selected. Mirror selfies require constantly fine-tuning the phone's position and the distance between the character and the mirror surface. Sometimes to find a good angle, I needed to maintain a squatting posture for several minutes, gritting my teeth even when my legs went numb. The lighting at the shooting site is actually quite complex, with reflections from the wood panel wall behind and natural light coming in from the window beside. By adjusting the blocking angle of the phone, I tried to minimize strong environmental highlights and ensure even lighting on the character's face. In addition, to express the unique texture of the Esperanta styling in fan creations, I paid special attention to the contrast between the fluorescent green lines and the black tactical equipment on the clothing. The black square pouch and fluorescent green straps on the belt are the visual focus, so during the shoot, I intentionally let this part get close to the central area of the frame to increase the richness of details. The entire shooting process was more like a self-inspection of character restoration. From wearing the wig to every button on the clothes, down to the gaze and posture during photography, every link affected the final effect. This cosplay is not just clothing matching, but also a visual interpretation of Rhodes Island's daily life under the Arknights worldview. Through this shoot, I also accumulated a lot of mirror selfie experience regarding tactical-style clothing, especially how to handle complex lighting and perspective relationships, hoping that through the mirror, the character's sternness and tactical equipment details can be presented.
