[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Detail Sharing of the Patent leather Maid outfit

For this Rem cosplay styling from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, I decided to go with a highly reflective black Patent leather bodysuit. Patent leather gives great lighting feedback during shoots, but it is also quite difficult to put on and take off, and easily catches fingerprints. The costume has a form-fitting cut, featuring white scalloped suspender straps and a small black bowtie at the chest, while the pleats of the skirt are also detailed with care.

The head styling features silver-blue short hair with straight bangs, paired with blue contact lenses and a large hat with dark red tones, adorned with dotted glossy accents. In my hands, I held the red trident prop, mainly gripping the black shaft; holding this prop for a while actually felt quite heavy.

During the mirror selfies, I focused on showcasing the legs. This time, I wore over-the-knee Black stockings with a single leg ring over them, paired with black high heels to highlight the sleek lines. I love this combination with a subtle sense of restraint—wearing it fits this slightly witchy vibe much better than ordinary cotton or fabric. The zigzag edges on the gloves are a highlight of this outfit, although finger movement is somewhat restricted, so I did my best to maintain a natural grip.

On the day of the shoot, the room had light wood grain flooring, with a blue backdrop and white storage boxes beside me—a bit cluttered, but full of life. Adjusting poses as I shot, I also experimented with low-angle shots to better elongate my body proportions. Preparing this outfit was quite time-consuming, especially smoothing out the long stockings, fastening the leg strap tightly, and walking carefully in heels while maintaining an upright posture throughout.

When shooting close-ups, I primarily focused on shaping facial expressions and eye contact. Paired with the blue contacts and utilizing the lighting behind me, it easily brought out a cool-toned texture. The sheen of the gold buttons and bowtie on the outfit looked stunning under the lens. Recreating classic characters always lets me appreciate the ingenuity of costume design; whether local tailoring or overall coordination, trying various angles is necessary to present it completely. Choosing the black Patent leather style this time offered an alternative visual aesthetic beyond the conventional deep blue palette, fitting the character's tough yet delicate personality traits. From fitting to packing up props, the whole process took significant energy, but documenting this authentic styling process was a wonderful experience for me.
