[Komeiji Satori cosplay] Touhou Project's Unique Charm: Casual Shoot Record from Suzhou ACG

After importing the raw photos into the editing software and processing them, these convention photos from Suzhou ACG are finally ready to share. Overall, the photoshoot experience was quite fun, though the on-site interaction turned out a bit unexpected. Walking through the venue, perhaps because the character is relatively niche or everyone was rushing between areas, very few people recognized who I was portraying right away. I did feel a subtle touch of loneliness, so I simply found a quiet corner to crouch down with my phone and tablet to start editing. This quiet solo time actually allowed me to settle down and think about how to best present the photos.

Speaking of editing, let me briefly share my post-processing workflow. First was color grading: I chose a soft, dreamlike pink-and-purple palette as the primary tone, giving the overall image a slightly hazy, surreal visual aesthetic. To complement this atmosphere, I focused on the light filtering through the vehicle window in the background, letting the purple halo harmonize with the pink hair and the blue-and-pink dress. This extensive interplay of warm-cool contrast and analogous color transitions is a personal stylistic obsession of mine. A lot of effort went into the makeup as well; to fit the character's persona, I applied a very pale base foundation, while the eye makeup utilized dark shadows to sculpt the eye contours, creating a profound, gazing look. The pink lace on the headwear, the oversized bow, and the trailing red cords were carefully refined in post-processing for texture, ensuring they appear detailed without being overwhelming. The white floral motif at the chest and the spherical apparatus on the red cords are crucial anchoring details for this image. The slight high-angle shot taken with a phone also made the overall pose look more delicate. Post-processing of highlights and shadows remained restrained, preserving the authentic feel and the subtly dark-fairytale mood of the raw shot.

Cosplaying this character at a Suzhou venue for the first time was slightly solitary, but that faint sense of detachment actually aligned seamlessly with the character's aloof persona. Fusing this ambiance with the character setting is the core message I wanted to convey through this shoot and edit. The Touhou Project community is vast with numerous characters, and getting to roam the venue in cosplay was an immensely fulfilling experience. With this editing session wrapped up, crouching in that quiet corner and creating these photos served as a truly special record.
