This photoshoot brought soccer elements and cheerleading together. The overall concept was to showcase the vibrant, energetic persona of Ichinose Asuna from Blue Archive, so for the wardrobe, I chose a light blue sleeveless cropped athletic tank top with the number 97 printed on the chest, paired with a white pleated mini-skirt, creating a very refreshing color palette. To amplify the athletic feel, I wore over-the-knee White stockings and white platform sneakers; the sock cuffs featured light blue stripes, echoing the top's color perfectly.
The wig and animal ears were the focal points of this styling. The long golden-blonde hair needed to be brushed to achieve fluffy volume. When shooting jumping motions, I had my assistant use a fan to let the hair flutter naturally, preventing it from looking stiff. I chose blue contact lenses, which, combined with refined eye makeup, made my gaze look even more spirited. To faithfully capture the character's aura, I specifically painted my nails with light blue polish—subtle details like these serve as wonderful accents in close-ups and dynamic poses.
The props on set mainly consisted of blue-and-silver metallic pom-poms, a standard black-and-white soccer ball, and a white bar stool. Striking poses while holding the pom-poms actually tested arm strength quite a bit—especially when leaping and raising both pom-poms high overhead, where I had to maintain balance while keeping a natural, radiant smile. For the shots seated on the tall stool, I tried crossing my legs and cradling the soccer ball, which not only showcased the drape of the pleated skirt, but also allowed the leg lines to stretch gracefully before the camera.
The shoot went very smoothly. The photographer used soft studio lighting, and the pure white backdrop kept the visual clean and crisp. A few poses required repeated attempts: for instance, capturing the single-leg leap required ensuring the billowing height of the skirt and pom-pom placement didn't obscure my face. There was also the over-the-shoulder glance with my back to the camera, which required twisting from the waist to accentuate the back and waistline while letting my gaze convey confident energy.
When executing these dynamic poses, I realized that the more natural the movement, the more infectious the resulting photo became. The tailoring of the costume was very flattering; the pleats of the skirt fanned out naturally in motion, which, paired with the White stockings, gave the overall look a powerful sporty vibe and distinct 2D charm.
