For this shoot, I wore the White formal dress look of Rem. Considering the costume is made of a large area of white satin material adorned with gold trim and subtle jacquard textures, the photographer used a softbox and white reflector for a pure white background setup. This high-key shooting technique preserved the fabric's texture well, preventing the white outfit from blending into the bright background.
In terms of hair and makeup, to harmonize my skin tone with the blue-and-white wig, the base makeup was kept fair and translucent. The focus was on the eye makeup, using elongated eyelashes and light blue colored contacts to faithfully recreate the character's demeanor. The wig was also trimmed in layers so the bangs fit my face shape naturally without obstructing my line of sight during shooting.
During the shoot, a prop box served as great support. The first set of seated photos primarily utilized the lines of the high-slit skirt paired with white high heels to visually elongate the legs. The third full-body photo took considerable effort to adjust the angle—after testing several standing poses, subtle adjustments to the body's center of gravity and forward hip tilt were needed to let the slit skirt flare just right, revealing thigh lines while keeping the chest bow from being crushed or deformed.
Whenever shooting garments with exquisite tailoring and metallic accessories, I pay close attention to the details. For example, the gold ring buckle at the waist and the jewel armband on the arm had to be kept in their correct positions without shifting due to large movements. Wearing satin fabric in a studio shoot requires constant vigilance for fabric creases and checking that the gold-trim reflections aren't too glaring.
Because the high slit and lace shorts design really test posing, I paid closer attention to finger placement and eye contact during half-body close-ups. For the gesture of gently touching the cheek with fingertips, force had to be controlled to avoid smudging the makeup. Completing this whole set gave me deeper insights into highlighting garment design through posture, such as using hands-on-hips poses to elongate waistline proportions. Finally, I hope everyone can feel the elegant atmosphere of the Blue Lover, also serving as a tribute to that classic line in this 2D cosplay journey.
