[Rem Cosplay] A rainy day encounter with a pink sailor suit and a clear umbrella

Today I want to share with everyone the behind-the-scenes details of shooting this pink sailor suit styling. The setting this time was completed in a solid-color studio, with an overall tone of a very soft pink color scheme. To match this light and airy feeling, many adjustments were made from the preliminary styling preparation to the on-site lighting setup.
Let's talk about makeup and hair first. The light blue short-haired wig needed to be trimmed and styled in advance, and the bangs on the forehead needed to create a sense of lightness as much as possible so as not to look dull. Light-colored circle lenses were worn, the eye makeup part emphasized a clear and transparent feel, and blusher was applied under the eyes to increase the energetic feel. In terms of clothing, the white sailor suit top was paired with a light blue collar and a pink neckerchief; the position and shape of the bow tie were adjusted for a long time, striving to present the most perfect state in front of the lens. The light blue pleated skirt hem needed to be ironed very flat so that it could maintain a nice arc when sitting down and standing up. Paired with white stockings, the overall color matching looked very harmonious.
The shooting scene was arranged with a pink cube as a prop, and the background paper was also pink of the same color scheme. Although the overall is pink, through the layering of different materials, the picture does not appear monotonous. For example, the clear umbrella I held in my hand, under the irradiation of the softbox, the reflection of the umbrella surface refracted subtle halos, adding some layers to the picture. The adjustment of the sitting posture also required thought, and the photographer kept guiding me to find a suitable angle. The first group of photos was sitting squarely on the cube, with legs hanging down naturally and hands crossed on knees, presenting a quiet state overall. To break this static state, the second group tried a single-leg bent sitting posture, which can better display the leg lines and the material of the white stockings. I also held a clear star prop in my hand, matching the white umbrella, to make the picture elements richer.
Regarding the light during the shoot, the reflection inside the white photography studio was relatively strong, so when setting up the light, we lowered the light output and used a large softbox to ensure the delicate texture of the skin, avoiding dead-black shadows. To highlight the texture of the stockings and skirt, a faint rim light was added on the side, allowing the character to be more three-dimensional in the pink background. The whole process tested the control of details, and the presentation of each photo came from continuous adjustment of posture and angle. Shooting this kind of refreshing style of anime-style photography works, the most important thing is to maintain a natural state without deliberately posing exaggerated movements; as long as you blend into that quiet atmosphere, the picture captured by the lens will be very vivid.
When adjusting actions, I found that the placement of hands and feet has a big impact on the overall picture. For example, when hands are crossed, fingers must not exert too much force and should maintain a relaxed state. The direction of the toes is also very important; natural straightening can extend the visual length of the legs, matching the white of the stockings to form a clear color contrast in the pink background. The method of holding the clear umbrella was also tried several times, sometimes opened and placed behind to increase the depth of the picture, and sometimes closed and placed by the feet as a foreground occlusion. That small star prop not only enriched the elements of the picture, but also solved the awkwardness of not knowing where to put hands. The entire shooting process was relaxed and pleasant, and before each shutter click, we spent time confirming the wrinkles of the skirt, the position of hair strands, and the angle of props. This polishing of details can make the final work more durable to watch.
For the choice of white stockings, actually, some thought was also spent. Styles that are slightly thicker and opaque should be chosen so that they will not lose texture under the strong light in the studio. The elasticity of the sock cuffs must also be appropriate, ensuring they will not slide down when bending the legs greatly, nor leave obvious flesh marks affecting beauty. When shooting sitting postures, considering that the skirt might expose or produce unnecessary wrinkles, it is necessary to carefully organize the skirt hem before sitting down to ensure the presented state is clean and crisp. Although these are all very basic preparations, in actual shooting they often determine the quality of the final photos. Every time I do a cosplay, I need to invest a lot of energy to prepare and coordinate. From the moment I get the clothes, I start thinking about how to convey the set feeling through the lens. This time, instead of complex actions, I used basic sitting postures and simple props to try to present a pure visual effect. In color matching, the pink background and blue clothing form a warm-and-cool contrast, with white stockings acting as a transition, making the picture colors rich and unified.
