I actually spent quite a long time preparing for this official Chainsaw Man Reze cosplay shoot. When first communicating with the photographer, I explicitly stated that I wanted an extreme sense of cool detachment—which is why you see the soft blue-toned backdrop and the mirrored floor design. We wanted to use this pristine, almost transparent environment to contrast Reze's inherently pure yet obsessive traits. The mirror element not only enriches the frame visually, but also carries a metaphor of self-introspection, revealing another self in the Mirror reflection.
To bring the character to life, I put significant effort into the styling. The deep purple wig was trimmed several times, gleaming with a cool sheen under bright lights; paired with bright green colored contacts, the visual contrast was striking. Clothing-wise, I selected a white sleeveless shirt paired with a slender black tie, where the black metal O-ring choker around my neck was the true soul of the outfit. To give the overall ensemble some layered dimension, I paired the lower half with Black thigh-high stockings and black shorts. This monochrome cool-toned palette fits the character's dangerous yet alluring demeanor seamlessly.
When shooting the close-ups holding the flowers for this Daisy portrait, I constantly focused on controlling my arm muscles so the pose looked relaxed without feeling stiff. The daisies were handpicked by us; their delicate, pure white appearance offered a vivid contrast to the character's explosive background. For the cut where I lay on the mirrored surface, I adjusted my posture countless times on the cold acrylic board to capture flawless leg lines and a symmetrical Mirror reflection. Gazing at my reflection in the mirror, in that fleeting moment, I felt like I truly understood her inner loneliness and resolve. That line in the post description, "there should only be the two of us in our world," feels to me like a yearning for an exquisitely pure, absolute bond.
Regarding lighting this time, I asked the photographer to keep it as soft as possible, utilizing softboxes paired with large flat reflectors. As a result, the transition between highlights and shadows in the photos is exceptionally smooth, and skin texture was beautifully preserved. Post-processing didn't rely on aggressive skin-smoothing either, keeping the makeup details and the luster of the hair strands intact. Being a cosplayer isn't just about putting on the costume—it requires channeling that obsessive yet pure emotion. This photo set is a visual expression of my personal interpretation of Reze in Chainsaw Man, and the entire creative journey was intensely satisfying.
