[Reze cosplay] Chainsaw Man Dark Bride Style Convention Photos Share

This time, I brought this Reze cosplay bride look to the anime convention for some convention photos. I'm quite satisfied with everything from the makeup and styling to the overall visual presentation. Let's talk about the initial concept first. Originally, Reze has a very classic white dress image in the original work of Chainsaw Man, but since it is presented as cosplay photography, I infused a few Gothic bride elements into it.

The main white corset vest was custom-made, using a design that combines lacing and buttons on the chest, which beautifully cinches the waistline while retaining that vintage sense of restraint. The shoulders are left bare, paired with over-the-elbow long white gloves, visually elongating the arm lines. The lower body features a lace-spliced tulle skirt hem with irregular layers. When walking or sitting, the hem drapes with the wind or due to the posture, creating highly natural wrinkled textures, and the hollowed-out details of the lace also add a lot of quality. The black choker plus a crucifix pendant on the neck is used to neutralize the purity brought by the large amount of white, giving the entire styling a bit more of Reze's characteristic cool yet slightly mysterious aura.

The shooting location this time was inside the exhibition hall of the convention, beneath those typical high-ceiling spotlights, which create beautiful bokeh light spots when shining down. The photographer was excellent at seizing the advantages of this venue; instead of choosing an exceptionally bright ambient light, they darkened the background and centrally focused the light on the character, thereby highlighting the texture of the white wedding dress. Combined with the slightly blurred lighting and equipment silhouettes in the background, it brought a touch of cinematic feel.

Although these are convention photos, I personally value the state during shooting very much. The standing full-body photo in Image 3 is my favorite because that short irregular skirt hem combined with the white platform high heels perfectly balanced the overall proportions. In this pose, I look at the lens with hands on hips, feeling like I could beautifully capture Reze's unyielding and slightly rebellious vibe.

The sitting poses also offer different feelings. Sitting on a black photography step-stool, its rigid structure forms a contrast with the softness of the wedding dress. Sitting sideways like in Image 1 or sitting upright holding a bouquet like in Image 2 attempts to convey a state that seems calm on the surface but has a story deep down inside. Furthermore, because it's a short wedding dress, the leg lines can be directly revealed, and paired with white lace thigh-high socks, the completion level of the overall look becomes much higher.

There are also some very tiny details, such as the drape of the veil and lace, which required constant on-site adjustment. When shooting this kind of white veil look, my biggest fear is unnatural wrinkles. Before every click of the shutter, I had to confirm whether the skirt hem was properly spread out and whether the veil was blocking my eyes or messing up the hairstyle. The long gloves this time actually carried a certain amount of thickness; wearing them in the convention hall during summer required quite a bit of endurance. Combined with high heels, my feet and hands were actually very exhausted after a full day of shooting, but seeing the final photos made it all feel well worth it.

In fact, every time you do a cosplay shoot, you face environmental challenges. There are always crowds passing by at the convention live site, or various unexpected small situations occasionally. Fortunately, we set aside a little separate time to shoot this time; although there were some photographers' tripods and gear around, the overall captured atmosphere was still very clean.

The reason why this look chose the bride cosplay theme is also because I feel that although the character of Reze is placed in that cruel world, there is always a soft spot deep down in her heart. Expressing this multifaceted nature of the character through cosplay is precisely where the joy of doing cosplay has always lied. Moreover, a lot of thought went into wearing each accessory for the black crucifix, veil, and gloves released this time, especially that crucifix pendant, whose chosen size is just right without looking overly heavy.

During the practical process, I also summarized some small experiences. For instance, with this kind of styling that features a veil and long hair, be careful during photography not to let the veil eat away the edge silhouette lines, and make sure the background has appropriate blurring when posing, so as to highlight your dominant position as the main subject of the character. Beyond regular actions, attempting some detailed shots like looking down, side profiles, or messing around with the bouquet can also add a lot of storytelling to the entire set of images.

Additionally, I am also trying to use different gazes to convey the character's state under specific situations; being a bit colder or revealing a slightly softer expression will make the character look like they don't just wear that outfit, but possess a soul instead. Anime-style photography for a white veil is actually highly dependent on lighting. Even if the lights at the convention venue aren't perfect, as long as you find the right direction of the main light source and let the light follow the flow of the clothing and hair, the resulting quality texture will be much better.

To me, releasing a set of final photos is not just for the photos to look good, but a re-creation of my own understanding of the character. This bride cosplay look for Reze, from the pattern of the costume to the shaping of the overall atmosphere, was prepared with a lot of thought. Being able to capture these few images that met my mental expectations at the convention site this time means I didn't let down this set of gear.
