Putting on this custom version of the red school uniform jacket, tying the black bow tie, and making sure the blue electric guitar is properly slung over my shoulder—this is the everyday gear belonging to Nina Iseri. For this shoot, we chose the riverside walkway after nightfall, where the light, shadow, and city backdrop fit the unique temperament of this character from Girls Band Cry perfectly. Before the shoot, the wig's bangs and twintails on both sides were meticulously styled, recreating the color and hairstyle down to the fine details. To match the overall look, the base makeup leaned clean and fair, with special focus on deepening the eye contours to highlight the blue colored contacts, hoping to better express the sharpness within her youthful vibe.
I originally thought the guitar prop would be the heaviest part of this styling, but the moment I gripped the neck and placed my fingers near the pickups, that tactile sensation instantly brought a real sense of slipping into the character. The river breeze and the lights from the opposite bank became the perfect background accompaniment. During the shoot, a harsh light source from the back-side was cast onto the hair to simulate the edge-glow effect of stage lighting on hair strands, while the warm light from the streetlamps beautifully accentuated the three-dimensional contours of the character's face. The long blue pole with the sign attached in the photo actually served as a natural frame; combined with the bright areas of the background night view, the resulting photo quality turned out unexpectedly well.
It was gasping cold during the shoot, but to recreate Nina's look of being ready to take on the world at any moment, my facial expression had to remain tightly locked, maintaining that stubborn and earnest state, and the posture of my fingers on the strings also required constant adjustment to keep the guitar stable. When I received the final photos and saw the close-up of my wink, it felt as though the fleeting moment of a girl who refuses to give up even if she falls was perfectly frozen in time. For a work that renders rock and emotions so exceptionally well, being able to cooperate with the scene and props to capture these outward expressions brings a profound sense of fulfillment. The makeup, styling, and lighting, paired with the exclusive signature on the guitar, made it feel as if I had briefly jumped into that world full of clamor and shouting through this Girl band cosplay and Anime cosplay session.
