The Endless Eight—this loop brought us before the bookshelves of the library. To pull off this set, a lot of thought went into preparing the costume and props beforehand. The iconic blue-and-white sailor suit, the red bow at the collar, and the unmistakable orange armband on the left sleeve are all indispensable hallmarks of this character. For the wig, I chose dark brown shoulder-length hair cut with slightly textured straight bangs, topped with the bright orange headband to fully lock in the character's signature silhouette.
For the location, we deliberately picked a vintage indoor reading room; broad wooden bookshelves and green window frames breathed a quiet, languid everyday atmosphere into the space. To align with the theme of Endless Eight, we shaped the poses to feel like an overlap of countless ordinary summer days. Looking back while leaning against a bookcase, or reaching up for a book on a high shelf, the goal was to capture candid moments of daily life rather than stiff, artificial poses.
In the afternoon, natural light slanted through the right-hand window, casting soft highlights across my hair and pleated skirt that created a wonderfully gentle interplay of light and shadow. Facing the camera, I continuously adjusted my breathing and expression, aiming to embody Haruhi's distinctive blend of sharp curiosity and casual indifference. For instance, in the close-up shot where I look down in contemplation, we took multiple takes just to capture that subtle lost-in-thought expression. Looking up for a book in front of the shelves, sunlight landed square on the red insignia of the armband—at that exact second, it truly felt like being drawn back into that ceaselessly looping summer.
Cosplaying a classic anime always comes with a nostalgic filter, likely because these series carry so many memories from when we first watched them. Although this sailor suit looks straightforward, the red-and-blue accents and belt buckle are crafted with fine detail. Throughout the shoot, there were no over-the-top dramatics—just quietly spending an afternoon in this peaceful setting. In post-processing, we preserved the natural warm tones of the sunlight and added a touch of subtle grain to evoke the nostalgic warmth of film. This photoshoot serves as a tangible tribute to that unending summer.
