Wearing this sailor suit to shoot this set of photos in the classroom, when the indoor natural light filtered in, there was genuinely an illusion of returning to the story. The classroom during the day actually has rather complex light, but the combination of overhead light and side light instead makes the wig's texture and the costume's silhouette more three-dimensional. Because this look is the character's most classic everyday attire, being relatively minimalist yet distinctly featured, I hoped to recreate that quiet and pure atmosphere as authentically as possible during preparation. On the details of the school uniform, the white base paired with a blue wide-bordered sailor collar, plus the red ribbon neckerchief at the chest, makes this color combination highly refreshing while dramatically increasing the character's own recognition.
Everyday-oriented Anime cosplay tests the detailed texture the most, and this sailor suit's stitching and color block proportions are highly recognizable. The knotting style of the red neckerchief at the collar and the width proportion of the blue trim on the cuffs are all critical links in recreating the character. To get as close to the character as possible, I specially selected this light golden straight long hair when choosing the wig, and coordinated with the original prototype to make a high twin-tails look adorned with black criss-cross ribbon bows. Although the hairstyle complexity isn't the absolute highest, putting it on immediately gives the initial impression of the character. The makeup specifically highlighted the red eyes, which is also the essence of the character; the moment I put on the colored contacts, the gaze carried an imperceptible piercing quality, which is highly crucial for shaping the character's temperament.
Let's talk about the scene and light this time. Shooting in this real classroom, though the welcome greeting written in chalk on the blackboard is spontaneous, it feels like a literature club recruiting new members, an imagery that just happens to complement the character's daily silhouette beautifully. We utilized the natural light in front of the podium, combined with the camera's white balance settings, to skew the overall photos' colors toward a warm tone, thereby adding a lifelike warmth. In terms of composition, we tried our best to place the character in the visual center of the frame while using the lines of the desks to guide the audience's gaze. The wooden texture of the desks forms a contrast with the uniform's fabric, creating a soft layer of frame depth for this classroom photo session.
The character setting itself possesses a profound emotional core. Seeing phrases like 'Even so, the world is still beautiful' and that sentence 'Does saving the world include me?' mentioned in the description, empathizing with this character genuinely allows one to experience many discussions about life, companionship, and value. Putting on this uniform and standing in the classroom makes it feel as if one can truly sense that virtual bond crossing physical time. Moreover, as a highly classic scene in a Galgame, I hope to display the character's everyday side rather than a dramatized side, letting the final photos return to life itself.
In photography, besides the fixed posed movements, the photographer also snapped some snapshots of me adjusting my hair or turning my head to look elsewhere. Capturing this sense of relaxation can effectively reduce the traced signs of staging in the photos, making the interactions appear more natural. Facing a public space like a classroom is actually quite challenging for shooting because there are quite a few people on weekends, requiring one to constantly watch out for any breaking elements in the background. However, after adjusting the angles, the final effect is highly satisfying, keeping the frame clean and the focus prominent.
When handling the poses, I specially tried both sitting and standing states. When sitting, placing the center of gravity on the edge of the desk and letting the calves drop naturally can make the leg lines look more elongated, while forming a better composition interaction with the wooden desk in the background. When standing, movements like arms on waist or touching the hair break the monotony of a purely straight stance. Because this outfit is a short skirt style, combined with the twin-tails wig, the overall impression is highly energetic. To highlight the character's line sense, special attention was paid to the angle between the arms and the body during photoshoots to avoid redundant wrinkles on the clothes. Meanwhile, the red colored contacts form a sharp color contrast with the white uniform, making the gaze the visual focus of the frame.
