Here are the Changsha ACC convention photos! This time I'm bringing you Sucrose cosplay convention photos. Actually, the prep time for this character wasn't too long, but I spent a lot of time fine-tuning the details. The wig needed to be trimmed for a fluffy and layered look, especially that small sticking-up ahoge on top, which had to be styled naturally. These reddish-brown round-frame glasses are also the soul of the character; once put on, that focused and slightly endearing scholar vibe instantly emerges.
The main color palette for this costume consists of teal-blue, white, and black. The large white cape actually has a very demanding cut, and the texture of its subtle patterns reveals rich layers under the venue's overhead lights and warm lighting. The teal Vision badge on the chest and the golden bird-shaped ornament at the waist are crucial details. The key point to watch out for in this entire outfit is the layering between the black-and-white inner lining and the outer layer—it must never look bulky. What satisfied me most was the light purple garter over-the-knee stockings outfit and the matching white platform short boots. The golden star buttons on the stockings are decorated just right, giving a stable visual center of gravity to the lower body in this stockings cosplay look.
The location for this photoshoot was right in the main hall of the Changsha ACC venue. The lighting on-site was quite complex with many overhead lights and reflections. The photographer selected spots near glass railings and beside escalators, utilizing natural light along with ambient lighting inside the venue. We discussed many poses, pairing them with the small potion bottle prop in hand to strike a bit of a researcher's stance.
The photos of sitting by the railing actually tested the lighting quite a bit, coming out with translucent facial skin and highlighting the texture of the skirt under the light. Since I was sitting on the floor, pulling the camera angle slightly further away beautifully displayed the leg lines and short boot details. Combined with gestures like adjusting glasses and resting my chin on my hand, the overall state felt relaxed yet fitting for the character setting. I really loved the atmosphere of looking down at the small bottle in my hand, as if I were truly studying some alchemy formula.
Although the convention venue was a bit crowded, everyone was very friendly. When many people saw this outfit, they called out the character's name, and that feeling of being recognized instantly felt truly wonderful. However, running around the venue in this outfit was indeed somewhat exhausting, especially with the boots and accessories carrying a certain weight. Fortunately, the final photo results were extremely satisfying, capturing that gentle, intellectual, and slightly playful feel.
Regarding makeup, the focus was placed on a clear base makeup and eyeliner that fits the eye shape. To match the character setting in Genshin Impact, it shouldn't be drawn too heavily; a natural rosy lip color and subtle blush were enough to enhance the complexion.
This day's experience was very fulfilling. Although maintaining a good state throughout wasn't easy, seeing these convention photos in the camera made all the preparation completely worth it. The character Sucrose inherently possesses great affability, and I hope to convey this earnest and gentle feeling. I look forward to connecting with more fellow fans in the future to enjoy the joy of ACG culture together.
