[Lilliel cosplay] 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, Recreating Textures Under a Pink and White Tone

For shooting this Lilliel look, a great deal of advance preparation was done for the overall planning, ranging from makeup to costumes and props. Because the character inherently possesses a vibe that is both dreamy and playful, a studio with a pure pink-purple gradient background was chosen this time, aiming to complement the primary white visual focus as much as possible through color.

First, regarding the outfit: to get close to the character's three-dimensional anime feel, I specially selected a material with a distinct glossy sheen, similar to a PVC texture fabric. The biggest advantage of this fabric in glossy material photography is that under studio top light and side light conditions, it reflects beautiful edge highlights, preventing white from looking flat or rigid. Meanwhile, the hot pink trimming stitched along the cuffs, neckline, and hem is the finishing touch of the whole look, instantly giving the pure white outfit a clear sense of structure and layering. The detached oversized sleeve covers are also a featured aspect of this styling; although somewhat inconvenient to wear, it is entirely worth it for the visual effect.

Handling the wig was also a key focus in this set. The hairstyle suited for a twin-tailed cute girl requires hair strands to be extremely smooth and glossy, while the position and curve of the pigtails must be just right so the head doesn't look overly heavy. Paired with light-colored contact lenses and meticulously drawn eyeliner, it maximizes the reproduction of the character's unique gaze under the photographer's lens.

During the shoot, we specifically chose a white semi-circular platform; this pure geometric base matched the clean baseline of the entire image very well. My cross-legged side-sitting pose needed to be relaxed and natural, with one hand slightly raised near my cheek and the other resting naturally downward, which nicely showcased the drape of the detached sleeve covers. Meanwhile, the white glossy tights exhibited excellent elasticity under the lighting as part of this white thigh-highs outfit; this combination of material and texture nicely highlighted the curves of the legs, serving as an exceptionally important visual presentation element for this look.

There was a small detail that we decided on the fly during the shoot: taking off the white high heels and placing them on the ground nearby. This action added a touch of everyday life and casualness to the static sitting posture, preventing the scene from appearing overly formal or rigid, while adding a hint of intimate, playful charm. The white shoes and the small white feather wings behind me formed a great echo in color and texture, bringing high unity to the overall look.

Regarding lighting, the photographer used broad soft lighting because the glossy material on me would easily produce blown-out harsh highlights if hard light were used, whereas soft light beautifully expresses the silkiness and delicacy of the material. Looking at the final output images, the pink-purple background softened the sharpness of the white outfit very well, giving the overall atmosphere a very sweet and refreshing feel.

During the shoot, I also paid special attention to controlling my expression. Without needing overly exaggerated smiles, keeping a clear and natural state suited the character setting well. After all, characters with a slight "2.5-dimensional" barrier feel often touch people through that subtle contrast between distance and reality.

Shooting this photo set actually required good stamina to maintain the stability of each pose, as many postures needed to stay completely still to capture that sense of lightness. Whether it was the texture of the outfit, the flow of the wig, or the atmosphere of the scene props, this was a very enjoyable attempt. Overall, being able to blend character traits with the environment in such a studio setup was a great shooting experience, and I will continue to explore and expand more in this style going forward.
