Choosing and experimenting with this look of Shimoe Koharu was a truly fun experience for me. Before deciding to cosplay this character, I actually did a lot of research on costume materials and design details, wanting to capture her spirited yet slightly tsundere personality in Blue Archive as faithfully as possible.
First, let's talk about the wig and makeup for this pink hair cosplay. Shimoe Koharu's pink hair is highly recognizable; to make the hair texture and sheen look natural, I specifically chose a matte heat-resistant synthetic wig. The curl at the tips and the length of the bangs were trimmed repeatedly to ensure the bangs wouldn't look too heavy when wearing the hat. For the eye makeup, I chose pink-purple colored contact lenses to match the character's eye color, complemented by low-saturation pink eyeshadow. The overall makeup was kept clean and translucent to better accentuate the character's lively charm.
Next come the props and headwear. The most eye-catching feature is definitely the pink angel halo floating overhead. This hovering prop had to be attached to the hat using a transparent bracket, and we reinforced it with double fastenings to ensure stability during the shoot, so the halo wouldn't tilt easily even with larger movements. The small black wings attached at the waist have a subtle sheen, creating a distinct color contrast against the pink outfit. The slender black choker around my neck served as a wonderful finishing touch, adding rich depth to the entire look.
The costume design is remarkably thoughtful. A bright yellow safety helmet paired with a loose-fitting pink hoodie featuring a white collared neckline and a red circular badge on the chest. While the hoodie silhouette is casual, white ribbed cuffs prevent it from looking sloppy. The black pleated skirt on the bottom is a standard school style with firmly pressed pleats. This ensemble looks both scholarly and lightly fantastical. The yellow crossbody bag is a crucial accessory in the look; its color visually echoes the yellow hat, making the overall palette richer and more vibrant.
For the styling details during the shoot, I specifically chose an opaque white thigh-highs outfit to pair with white Mary Jane shoes. The shoes feature pink color-blocking at the toe, perfectly echoing the hoodie and halo. The white stockings not only flatter the leg lines but also align with the character's pure and cool aesthetic, delivering great visual tension during leg poses. Because the backdrop was pure white with exceptionally even lighting, this high-key setup was wonderfully flattering for color accuracy, making high-contrast color blocks like pink, yellow, and black look crisp and clean.
To achieve the ideal results, we adjusted many poses on site. For example, crossing my arms while holding a book closely matched her guarded, slightly shy everyday posture. Poses like sitting on the floor hugging my knees or raising a hand aimed to evoke a relaxed, casual slice-of-life feel. The standing shot gently touching my collar felt the most natural to me—gazing straight into the lens, with the full view of the white thigh-highs outfit and shoes showcasing the overall aesthetic of the outfit. The costume was also very comfortable for dynamic posing, resisting awkward creasing whether standing on one leg or sitting on the floor.
Ultimately, I believe the most important aspect of cosplaying a character is understanding their core essence. Shimoe Koharu possesses a unique gap-charm—combining an angel's divine aura with relatable, down-to-earth stubbornness. Through this shoot, I hope to authentically convey her charm to fellow Blue Archive fans. No exaggerated post-processing filters were applied to this set, aiming instead to capture her vibrant character with direct, lifelike visuals.
