[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane: Red Plum Blossom Studio Set in a Traditional Chinese Style Qipao

This Traditional Chinese style Qipao look was intentionally shot inside an indoor red plum blossom studio set, aiming to freeze-frame the rich New Year atmosphere alongside Cheshire's playful charm.

Earlier, I jokingly mentioned in my post that I was "dining on pre-made dishes," which was simply a humorous nod to the tight timeline of this production schedule. Though the prep cycle was shorter than usual, rushing never meant compromising on quality. From finalizing makeup details and crafting the anti-gravity wig structure to prepping set props beforehand, we polished every element within our limited time to deliver the most complete New Year aesthetic in the final images.

For the costume, I selected a modified red-and-gold Traditional Chinese style Qipao. The body features a highly saturated genuine red base, complemented across the main focal area by gold thread embroidery depicting traditional flora and fauna. The neckline combines a white mandarin collar with golden frog fasteners, accented below by a heart-shaped cutout and golden waist accessories—infusing the outfit with the character's agile charm while retaining the dignity and auspicious elegance of traditional Eastern attire. The headwear incorporates multi-layered white ruffles and red ribbon bows, which, alongside the signature silver-gray short bob and cyan-blue highlighted bangs, bursts with lively New Year energy.

The lower half styling served as another key focal point. I selected a White thigh-highs outfit with lace-trimmed over-the-knee stockings and white thigh garters, which revealed a lightweight, natural texture under the studio lights. Stepping into glossy red patent leather high heels created a classic, high-contrast red-and-white visual impact against the white hosiery and red gown, effectively elongating leg lines across various seated postures. The photographer captured these details from diverse angles, greatly elevating the overall opulence and polish.

Building the set and selecting props was a centerpiece of this shoot. Inside the studio, we utilized a red wooden daybed with white fur cushions to emulate a vintage Chinese lounge, surrounded by faux red plum blossom branches, flowing crimson silks, and wooden prayer plaques inscribed with "Peace and Joy." Props gathered diverse Spring Festival motifs—a red calligraphy scroll wishing "Surplus Year After Year," enticing candied hawthorns (tanghulu), an oversized golden ingot on the floor, and a large red koi plushie. Across seated poses with crossed or bent legs, interacting with these props enriched the narrative flow. This New Year photo shoot is not only a showcase of Azur Lane Cheshire Cosplay, but also an exploration of anime styling fused with festive heritage, delivered as a sincere New Year gift to everyone.
