[Seele cosplay] Exclusive Romance for Children's Day: This starry sky dress cosplay is so dreamy!

I sorted through the convention photos from the June 1st shoot for Seele's 6th anniversary dress while the memory is fresh. I did the modeling and post-processing myself, with photography by Ningmeng-jun. Today, let's talk about the concept behind this shoot and a few subtle details from the day.

The design of this 6th anniversary dress truly suits the character's temperament. Across the deep blue fabric of the main skirt, lines forming constellation patterns and small white stars are printed throughout, along with silver-white butterflies in various poses accenting the hem. The white semi-translucent high-neck inner layer paired with an off-the-shoulder cut retains an elegant retro vibe while bringing out a refreshing summer feel. The sheer white gauze ribbons at the collar and shoulders act as the finishing touch, creating a light and breezy drape as I move. The crisscross lacing at the chest combined with long white gloves extending from the cuffs elongates the overall silhouette.

For the wig, a blue-purple gradient was chosen with slightly curled tips, which showed smooth tonal transitions under the convention hall lighting. On top, a white flower hairpiece was paired to harmonize seamlessly with the outfit's fresh color palette. For the lower half, a white thigh-highs outfit consisting of patterned lace socks paired with shiny black platform Mary Janes added a touch of playful retro flair while visually mirroring the long gloves.

The lighting on the shooting day was quite challenging. The location was a semi-outdoor venue corridor with harsh overhead lighting; without careful handling, highlights on the outfit would easily overexpose or cast harsh facial shadows. However, Ningmeng-jun is skilled at working with textured light. The hard light hitting the white outer gloves and sheer gauze outlined crisp rim lighting, giving the look a refined, cool elegance. The venue had heavy foot traffic, so capturing the full skirt spread or snapshot moments of floating butterfly ribbons required split-second reaction times. We found a relatively open corner and raised the shutter speed to capture plenty of dynamic moments.

Since the blue-and-white color palette leans quiet and serene, I avoided overly dramatic poses, mostly adjusting my posture by lifting the skirt, turning slightly sideways, or holding up a hand gently. The glowing butterflies in the photos were added by myself during post-processing; the initial idea was to intensify the cosmic starry sky dress cosplay atmosphere and inject lively vitality into the otherwise static skirt.

The hair/makeup prep and shooting process went quite smoothly, continuously testing different angles and candid timing throughout. During post-processing, I made sure to preserve the fabric texture without over-smoothing skin, aiming to faithfully restore the authentic texture where stars and gauze thread intertwine.

June weather was very hot, and wearing this somewhat thick dress along with long gloves resulted in quite a bit of sweating on-site, but seeing the final result made it completely worth it. Event photo sharing and photography are all about this journey—from preparing the look and communicating poses at the venue to final photo editing, every single step requires careful attention. I hope this cosplay work successfully conveys the inherent romance and airy lightness of the dress itself.
