This set consists of Convention photos from the Hangzhou Mengxiang Anime Convention, cosplaying Suzuran from Arknights. Considering composition and visual presentation, I chose the seated shot showing off the White lace socks as the cover photo.
The complaint about 'wearing the tail backwards' mentioned earlier was indeed completely true. Because I attended the convention alone, the venue was packed and chaotic, and the fluffy tail was both large and heavy; after putting it on, I didn't check front from back carefully before heading straight in. Only after getting home and reviewing the Convention photos did I realize the tail was attached completely backwards! It looked so hilariously goofy that I couldn't stop laughing at myself—it truly felt like the sky had fallen.
Nevertheless, this provided valuable experience for future shoots. Let's talk about the preparation process: organizing the wardrobe, makeup, and props took over a month. The core of the outfit is a pure white dress adorned with copious ruffles. The trickiest aspects of this gown were fabric selection and lace patchwork; pure white easily looks sheer, so sorting out the undergarments took considerable effort. The wig is golden blonde, trimmed with blunt straight bangs and styled with side braids to match the character design. The large Beast ears and tail were custom-made and required careful trimming to bring out a natural fur texture. I also brought along a teddy bear prop; since the character often carries it in lore, having it on set added plenty of interactive charm.
As for makeup, I went with a doll-like finish, placing emphasis on the eyes. Large-diameter contact lenses enlarged the pupils, and distinct false eyelashes framed the eye contours, paired with pink blush to make my gaze appear innocent and docile. Because the convention hall was warm, I used a long-wearing foundation; under the bright lights washing over fair skin, the higher exposure actually produced a luminous, translucent texture.
The shooting process was honestly quite exhausting. With massive foot traffic, the photographer had to scout angles through the crowds while I adjusted my poses. These photos mainly utilized overhead lighting and side-backlighting: light kissed the white skirt hem and the edges of the beast ears, creating pronounced rim lighting that made the fluffy parts look translucent and almost glowing, evoking a clean, ethereal mood that truly fits Suzuran. Even though my silly tail was backwards, it still looked fairly decent under this lighting.
Throughout the entire session, constantly holding the bear or maintaining poses left my arms sore. When seated, I had to manage the drape of the skirt while aligning with lighting angles. Although discovering the tail mishap was a noticeable flaw in the end, it still captured the soft, clean essence of the character, making it a challenging yet rewarding attempt.
