Shooting this Lynae cosplay photo set felt very challenging throughout the whole process, from preliminary preparations to the final output. The character design in the game Wuthering Waves has always been distinctive; while Lynae's look seems like everyday academy style at first glance, the details are extraordinarily rich, requiring quite an effort to recreate the texture.
First, let's talk about the wig. The treatment of the blonde gradient transitioning into turquoise is very eye-catching. To keep the hair strands styled even when blown by outdoor winds, I spent a lot of time shaping and setting it. The braids in front of the forehead and those two white skull hair accessories are the soul of the look; I repeatedly adjusted their positions and angles against the reference art. Combined with light-colored colored contacts and an aggressive eye makeup style, the character's unique temperament was brought out.
The clothing is likewise packed with details. The white long-sleeved shirt with colorful graffiti looks even sharper with the sleeves rolled up. The turquoise necktie features a grid texture and is paired with a metal buckle, giving a strong sense of layering. The crossed black leather harness across the chest and the pendants at the waist add a tactical vibe. The skirt is a black pleated miniskirt with some sci-fi prints on the hem. Paired with over-the-knee black stockings and chunky biker boots, it not only modifies the leg shape visually, but also looks great in dynamic motion when walking. The black over-ear headphones hanging around my neck served not only as a perfectly matching prop, but also came in handy as I actually wore them to listen to music during shooting breaks—very practical.
This outdoor shoot took place in a park with lush vegetation. The green woods and the interplay of light and shadow happened to fit the color palette of the entire outfit. To avoid crowds, we scouted scenes across wooden boardwalks, wooden pavilions, benches, and deep into the woods. The sunlight that day was wonderful; the dappled light filtering through the leaves onto the clothing and hair was full of texture. In front of the camera, I also tried different states, such as zoning out leaning against the wooden railing, bending my knees to rest on a bench, or candidly walking through the woods, aiming to showcase a side of the character that is quiet yet a bit cool.
In the set shot among the flower bushes, the white blossoms collided with the turquoise hair ends to create a great color contrast. When the gentle breeze lifted the skirt hem and long hair, there was truly strong visual tension. Although it was an outdoor location shoot where walking around between spots took quite a toll on physical stamina—especially finding angles in chunky boots over fallen leaves and boardwalks—seeing the lighting and costume details captured by the photographer presented so flawlessly made all the hard work feel worth it. I love this entire set of photos, and picked out a few of my favorites to serve as a complete record of this outdoor shoot.
