The costume design for this Lily of the Valley Waltz really tests the silhouette and tailoring details, especially when shooting in a Selfie studio where you have to balance lighting and posing simultaneously. During the early prep, makeup focused heavily on the purple gradient in the eyes and facial contouring to make the face shape fit the character design better. Styling the wig and Cat ears took quite a bit of time, especially that turquoise streak, which had to be adjusted repeatedly to give it a natural curve. The high craftsmanship of the outfit itself is showcased in the gradient dyeing of the skirt hem and the lace appliques; these details require careful reflection control in front of the lens, or the texture gets lost easily. The studio set was very full—the combination of a white cotton cloud base and a pink backdrop made the overall color palette look exceptionally soft. The table lamp and carousel served as great visual anchors, greatly enhancing storytelling during close-up shots. The photographer kept searching for optimal lighting angles to avoid overexposing the white skirt. To capture feline agility and that elegant little devil aura, a lot of thought went into posing, such as resting my chin on my hands, reaching out, and sitting sideways. The composition of the third photo, which highlights the lines of the legs, was actually achieved by verifying the lens distortion range beforehand and using a wide-angle lens to visually elongate proportions. During shooting, I constantly had to adjust my body angle to make the layered skirt and lace choker look fluffier and more dimensional. The neckline of this set is quite intricate, featuring black webbing paired with hollowed lace and a gemstone pendant on the chest; while these accessories look gorgeous, they are quite fiddly and required constant straightening to keep them from shifting during movement. The sheer mesh sleeves fit snugly at the wrists, nicely flattering arm lines. Sitting on the cotton base was actually quite unstable, requiring core strength to maintain a beautiful curve, so those seemingly casual photos were actually physically exhausting behind the scenes. The white base of the full outfit resonated with the turquoise gradient, looking wonderfully sheer against the pink drapes. This shoot gave me a fresh understanding of managing light and composition. As mentioned, my next plan is to cosplay the Liyue cat, and I'm currently sourcing suitable fabrics and accessories, hoping to capture the essence of that distinct style. Every photoshoot feels like getting to know a character anew, and I'm quite satisfied with this set of results. The entire shoot also had clear demands on the venue's hardware—proper lighting modifiers directly affect skin texture, while the model needs an accurate sense of angles presented to the lens.
