[Keqing Cosplay] Yuheng's Sword Light Clears the Chaos of the Convention

The convention photos from this event are finally sorted out! Huge thanks to photographer Shiwang for spending time with us during the tight gaps of the busy convention to secure a relatively open area amidst the crowds to finish this set of wrap-up photos. Although everyone sees a clean and tidy floor in the photos, the surrounding area at that time was actually filled with scattered crowds and passing attendees. Being able to produce quality shots in such an environment truly required high efficiency from the shooter and great mutual understanding on site.

For this Keqing look, a lot of meticulous thought went into the costume and props. The wig utilizes a twin tail setup with long bangs. To recreate the character's fluffy volume, a total of two wigs were blended together. I am highly satisfied with the glossiness that the purple hair strands displayed under the cool-toned venue lighting. The animal ear hair accessory on top of the head not only added to the character's vibrant and cute aura but also beautifully shaped the head's silhouette. The main piece of the outfit is a blue and white patterned puff dress; to support the fluffiness of the hem, a stiff mesh petticoat was added inside, allowing it to maintain a rounded curve even while walking and posing. The black over-the-knee socks paired with the blue bow on the thigh anchored the visual focus, and together with the black chunky-heeled ankle boots on my feet, it elongated the lower body proportions overall.

The prop sword is the core essence of this set. The blade features mainly a purple and white gradient, and the hilt adorned with golden carvings reflected the convention hall's light source excellently. Although the blade edge shows clear characteristics of prop materials, it displayed outstanding texture in the photos. When posing, this sword also bore the primary structural role. For instance, in those action-heavy stances you see, maintaining the balance of the sword and the stability of the character's center of gravity heavily tested my core strength. Especially for that photo where I stand on one foot, lean my body slightly, and reach my hand out toward the lens—I had to hold it several times just to capture the moment where the skirt had just swung up and the expression looked natural.

Since the shooting location was inside the convention hall, the lighting was quite complex, with spotlights from the ceiling shining directly down on the figure, creating intense contrasts between light and dark. Shiwang expertly utilized the cool light of the venue, combined with the blur effect of a large-aperture lens, to handle the slightly messy pillars and crowds in the background into a clean and soft look, which both preserved the convention's atmosphere and highlighted the main subject. Standing in the hall for an entire afternoon in black silk stockings and high-heeled boots was honestly pretty exhausting, putting heavy weight on my ankles and knees. However, for the final presentation of the styling effect and texture, all this physical labor was entirely worth it.

The word 'wrap-up' in the photos is partly a joke about us seizing a shooting window amidst the flow of people, and partly a hope that the final images would have a crisp and clean visual presentation. 'Sword light, hear me! Clear the clutter' is not just a voice line, but also a true reflection of us shooting this set of photos. Being able to try our best to recreate a vivid character by utilizing the physical light, shadow, and posture on site in a real-world convention environment is precisely the creative process I enjoy the most every time I attend a convention. The overall style of this entire set leans toward realistic and dynamic without too many flashy post-processing filters, emphasizing instead the real on-site lighting atmosphere and the transmission of the character's emotions.
