Putting on this black and blue spliced magician costume of Lynette from Genshin Impact for this studio shoot was a very special experience to present the character's traits and dramatic tension in front of the lens. The highlight of this outfit lies in the collision of materials; the black vest adopts a splicing treatment of leather-like and glossy finishes, which, paired with the vintage criss-cross lacing on the front, enhances the overall layering. At the collar of the inner white shirt, the giant bright blue bow and the blue plaid tie not only brighten the frame but also accentuate the occupational characteristics of a magician. The gold metallic embellishments on the clothing, such as the decorations at the waist and shoulders, look highly textured under the lights without appearing cheap.
In terms of props, the top hat is an indispensable soul element; the blue lining of the hat and the geometric lines of its exterior give it a quite mysterious feel. This shoot also incorporated a black cat-headed sphere prop adorned with golden markings; holding it in hand or freezing it mid-air echoes the character's identity perfectly. The tail and thigh rings are also finishing touches; the tail material features a matte furry texture fitted behind the waist, while the single-sided black strap on the thigh paired with a gold ring, combined with the black high thick-soled boots, elongates the lower body proportions of the overall look.
The wig is short light blonde hair styled with a voluminous and slightly flipped-out look. Putting on the white headpiece adorned with gold accents allows an instant entry into the character's state. This time, I tried a few different expressions, showcasing both that confident and composed magician vibe as well as a touch of laziness and playfulness belonging to this little black cat. During the shoot, I hoped to convey the character's agility through body language, such as standing on one leg combined with extending my arms, or naturally spreading both hands out to make the frame look both powerful and lively.
The solid-color background of the studio shoot is actually a great way to showcase the clothing details of this type of character. Free from the messy distractions of outdoor locations, the light source can be evenly cast on our leather vest, skirt hem, and boots, revealing different material reflections. This clean imagery is also closer to the display effect of the official illustrations. The color-blocking combination of black and blue is very refreshing; paired with the lightweight tailoring, it allows me to maintain shooting passion and a great mood even after spending several hours in these accessories and high heels through this cosplay photography session.
This set of photos records a precise grasp of the character's positioning and devotion to the styling. The overall atmosphere is relatively restrained yet retains the unique agility and playfulness of the character. As my state inside this magician costume, it carries a strong sense of immersion.
