[Furina Cosplay] Bringing Furina to Sayram Lake, This Blue is a Perfect Match for the Flower Sea

This outdoor location shoot was chosen at Sayram Lake purely because the color tone here fits this costume so well. The azure sky and deep blue lake water, combined with the green grass and orange-toned flowers, created a wonderful visual harmony with Furina's blue-and-white dress. Without any deliberate scene selection, a natural feel just emerged.
It was actually very windy during the shoot, and definitely not a gentle breeze; it directly blew the skirt hem, making it rustle loudly. But it was precisely thanks to this wind that we captured a few dynamic shots of the skirt flying completely up. Compared to the well-regulated styling controlled in a studio shoot, this wild sense of stretching carries much more vitality instead. I chose to take many back-view snapshots because the shape of this blue long-train unfurling behind holds immense tension, and combined with the head hair accessories, the overall aura looks very powerful from behind.
The material of the costume is a bit peculiar; it's not a soft fabric, but a rather stiff and reflective fabric, which feels quite heavy when layered. The advantage of this stiff material is that it doesn't droop easily, and when the wind blows, it creates a wavy fluffiness. Wearing the wig all day, maintaining the bangs without getting messed up under such outdoor wind speeds was quite a challenge. Fortunately, the overall styling remained relatively steady, and the slightly curled ends could also withstand it. For the makeup, I downplayed the contours as much as possible, focusing instead on echoing the blue elements in the eye makeup. The lip color was chosen to be slightly redder to enhance the complexion, avoiding being washed out by the large areas of blue and white.
In terms of framing for the shoot, close-ups, half-body, and full-body shots were all taken into consideration. Some were shot from a low camera angle looking up by the photographer, which elongates the visual proportions of the legs and keeps the background cleaner to highlight the main subject. Others were wide-angle high-angle shots, framing the layers of both the flower sea and the water surface, adding more to the atmospheric vibe. The shoes worn were actually not suitable for running on the grass; the grass was very thick, and there were small pebbles, so I almost twisted my ankle several times. But to make the skirt hem fly up, I had to keep jogging and then abruptly stop to pose. Looking back at those captured photos, I feel this hard work was entirely worth it.
Actually, when shooting this kind of large-skirt cosplay outdoors, the biggest fear is that the reflector light isn't uniform, or the light is too harsh, causing all facial and costume details to be lost. Fortunately, the weather that day turned from cloudy to clear; the clouds in the sky acted like a huge softbox for the lens, casting very soft light on the skirt hem. The highlights preserved the texture of the fabric, and the shadows had no flat black areas, so the pearl and metallic textures on the hair accessories could be clearly expressed.
For post-processing, we basically didn't make too many changes, mainly correcting the light and dark relationship of the highlights and slightly adjusting the saturation of the flower sea to make it look more vivid. The raw photos themselves were very clean, and combined with the base color of Sayram Lake, it easily achieved that translucent look we wanted. I brought two backup outfit options this time, but in reality, this blue long-train dress was entirely enough to shoot. Trench coats and such were completely unused. Shooting in such an open place, the best part is that absolutely no one wanders into the lens accidentally; the entire frame is clean, and I can move around however I want, which made the shooting efficiency much higher.
From preparing this outfit to producing the photos, the pre-shoot preparation took longer than expected. However, truly seeing the frozen moments on the screen, the vitality of this blue color is perfectly bound to this scenery. Especially when the model stands in the middle of the flowers, with the wind carrying her dress forward, it feels like a great picture without any redundant modification. If there's a chance to come back next time, I might bring some more lightweight and flowing styles to try; this Sayram Lake location shoot is truly worth shooting repeatedly in Genshin Impact cosplay.
