[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane: The Purity and Agility of the Oath Bride

Changing into Cheshire - White Seaside Melody, I quickly got into the zone for the shoot. This gown has so many design details, from the cat-eared lace tiara on top of the head to the draping transparent veil. The light gray wig paired with lake-blue highlights on both sides perfectly matches the character setting. The blue gemstone embellishing the neckline forms a wonderful top-and-bottom echo with the matching-colored bow at the waist. The venue was selected within a pure white European-style architectural scene, paired with a large number of white roses and green plant vines to create a pure, high-key atmosphere.

In terms of equipment, we primarily used a full-frame camera body paired with a large-aperture prime lens. To ensure the tulle texture of the skirt and the reflections on the floor wouldn't get overexposed, the photographer used a large diffuser screen to filter the ambient daylight, making the overall light extremely soft. This lighting technique beautifully highlights the layers of the white tulle, making the character's skin tone look even more translucent.

Several different perspectives were designed during the shoot: the gentleness of sitting on the mirrored floor with a tilted head, the confidence of standing behind the archway and looking back out, and an action of extending a hand directly toward the lens, attempting to break the fourth wall. Cheshire is originally a character carrying a touch of energy and airheaded traits, and the theme of the oath wedding gown amplifies her gentle side. When holding the bouquet, to prevent the pose from looking too stiff, I intentionally adjusted the tilting angle of the flowers, allowing the ribbons of the bouquet and the lines of the skirt hem to create an interwoven feeling. This styling also has requirements for shoes; choosing white and blue-black color-blocked high heels adds a bit of weight to the edges of the frame, preventing the character from looking too floaty in the scene. Although the light shifted quite frequently on the day of the shoot, requiring repeated metering, looking back at the sample photos revealed that the 3D depth of the scene and the character's inherent dreamy temperament blended perfectly. It was a very pleasant Cosplay photography experience, giving me new insights into both anime costume restoration and studio lighting control.
