Pre-production for this Letter from Spring look of Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail took about half a month, with most of my energy dedicated to refining the nuances of the garments and wig. Starting with the hair, the silvery-grey base transitions into a mint-green gradient at the tips; to ensure a seamless, organic fade, I trimmed and styled the strands multiple times. The hairpiece at the crown and the ribbons framing the sides required repeated adjustment and pinning so they wouldn't shift out of place during active poses. The red cheek markings were the defining accent of the makeup, while the eye makeup was kept luminous and dewy to honor her signature blend of inner resilience and gentle warmth.
Regarding the wardrobe, the tailored buttons of the white long-sleeved jacket and the golden embroidery across the left sleeve offer remarkable tactile richness. The soft-teal ribbon at the collar was custom-made with crisp structure so it wouldn't droop. The blue-and-grey Plaid skirt uniform below boasts razor-sharp pleats that held their geometric structure effortlessly whether standing or seated, saving considerable hassle on set.
Props were prepared with equal deliberation. The floral bouquet combined pink roses with blue blossoms and lush greenery, wrapped in kraft paper to lend an earthy, handcrafted charm. The other crucial prop was a vintage brown briefcase; its pebbled leather grain and brass hardware caught the lighting beautifully, though its genuine heft made holding it single-handedly for prolonged takes quite a workout.
We staged the shoot in an indoor studio against a dark backdrop to let the character's vibrant palette pop. I wore full White stockings detailed with subtle pale motifs across the thighs. Because white hosiery easily blows out or catches distracting glare under studio strobes, I coordinated closely with the photographer to angle the rim lights, preserving the dimensional contour of the legs while preventing harsh hot spots from flattening the textile texture.
For pose design, I experimented with dynamic single-leg balances—lifting the left leg slightly with a gentle torso tilt while gazing directly down the lens. While appearing effortless, the stance demanded solid core control while balancing both the floral bouquet and the heavy briefcase; it took several takes to freeze the perfect frame. This Letter from Spring look for Firefly carries a delightful campus-style slice-of-life charm while retaining her unmistakable persona. Though exhausting, seeing the light and detail land exactly as envisioned made every minute worthwhile. We kept post-processing effects minimal to let the pristine lighting and organic textures speak for themselves.
