This Ruan Mei costume has quite rich layering. The white off-the-shoulder top is paired with a large amount of ruffles and lace, with three-dimensional flowers adorning the cuffs. The blue high-slit skirt hem design allows the pearl chain decoration on the leg to be fully displayed when sitting down. This pearl leg ring, paired with white Stockings and blue high heels, can significantly elongate the visual proportions. To restore the character setting, the right hand wears a bright blue elbow-length long leather glove, while the left hand is a semi-transparent white lace glove. This asymmetric pairing requires deliberate attention to the arm placement angles when adjusting poses during the shoot.

In terms of accessories, the green gemstone choker around the neck and the pink ribbon form a striking color collision. The white veil and pink flower hair accessories on top of the head are directly fixed to the wig with clips. The wig adopts a style with black and blue dual-color highlights; the blue at the hair ends requires fill light to showcase the best texture, and the stylist put a lot of thought into trimming the bangs and sideburns. The blue pipa prop in the hand is the visual focal point; both the golden patterns on the body of the instrument and the pink flower inserted on the head have been meticulously restored. The posture of holding the pipa should not be too stiff; fingers need to rest lightly on the strings, which, combined with the material of the blue leather glove, yields an outstanding texture in close-up shots.

To match the character's temperament, the shooting location was chosen as a real-scene studio featuring wood-carved windows, bookshelves, and Chinese-style lanterns, accompanied by white crane ornaments and a huge glowing moon background. The lighting adopted soft front light paired with side-back light, which better outlines the contours of the wig and clothing edges. During the shooting process, I tried various actions such as sitting, reclining, and holding a folding fan. The addition of the folding fan brings some interactivity to the frame, and gently resting the fan ribs against the chin or half-covering the face both enhance the mysterious atmosphere the character should have.

In character portrayal, Ruan Mei herself carries a sense of scholarly alienation and calm. Therefore, throughout the shooting process, I exercised restraint in expression management, avoiding too many sweet smiles, and instead using slightly lowered gazes and a somewhat lazy demeanor to fit the character's personality. The eye makeup used a grayish-blue earth tone as a base, elongating the outer corners of the eyes, matched with blue-green contact lenses, making it look very translucent under the flash. The lips chose a low-saturation nude pink to avoid stealing the visual focus from the eye area. The shooting of this entire set of photos took about four hours; maintaining the floating playing posture of the pipa prop heavily tested arm strength, but being able to fully present these clothing details and prop settings made all the preliminary preparation work worth it.
