This set of photos established a calm and leisurely tone right from the preparation stage. Combined with the transparent blue and white scenery during the shoot, the final image texture aligns perfectly with my understanding of the character's inherently indifferent and serene temperament. The peacock blue base color and the light, translucent white gauze fabric create a subtle color transition under the light. The 3D white flower decoration at the waist and the leather gloves also provide a highly recognizable contrast in texture for the look. The shooting site specifically used a large blue curtain as a translucent background, matching the traditional Chinese wooden lattice windows to create a cool yet bright visual space for the frame.
For the choice of props, I got this hand-painted plum blossom oil-paper umbrella and a round silk fan; the delicate flower branch patterns on the fan surface are incredibly rich in detail in the close-up shots. In addition, the casually placed scrolls, calligraphy brushes, and celadon wine sets on the low table, along with the white petals scattered on the floor, added a touch of a scholar's lifestyle to the entire scene. In terms of posing, besides the conventional compositions of standing and sitting upright, I also tried the posture in image three, leaning sideways against the wooden desk. This casual movement not only showcases the character's lazy and relaxed vibe but also beautifully elongates the leg lines visually, which, paired with matching high heels, makes the entire silhouette of the character look more slender. The photographer's control over angles and lighting was extremely precise, especially the handling of the floor reflection, which gave the image a shimmering layer of extension.
When organizing this set of photos, it happened to be near the college entrance examination. In the original storyline, Ruan Mei herself carries a unique temperament of being detached from worldly affairs yet intensely focused on her own research. I feel that this state of focusing on one's own goals is actually shared with everyone who is about to enter the exam room. Whether in front of the lens or in daily life, being able to adjust oneself to the best state to face challenges is already a success. Therefore, using this set of photos, I also want to say to all the examinees: I wish you all a victorious start and that your wishes come true. Although the shooting process was hard, especially adjusting postures back and forth in the heavy studio set, seeing the final photos made everything feel completely worth it. From outfit coordination to scenery construction, this set reflects a lot of hard work from the team, and I hope to pass this traditional Chinese style and gentleness on to everyone as a lovely anime girl capture in cosplay photography.
