[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Set This Sea of Stars Ablaze

A lot of thought truly went into the details of this Firefly costume. The white gradient wig required careful styling to build layered texture, with aqua-blue hair tips and feather ornaments on the headband echoing the character's overall color palette. The black lacing and brown neckerchief on the chest serve as visual focal points, while ruffles on the cuffs and black bows add a sense of youthful charm. That gradient blue-black Stocking outfit is the key to the entire look, appearing slender while complementing the cool tones of mecha elements. The ambient lighting at the convention was somewhat cool, which happened to highlight the subtle shimmer of the costume fabric.

During shooting, I experimented with several different states. Close-up shots required careful facial expression control to convey a quiet yet firm demeanor. Dynamic bow-drawing stances demanded core and arm strength; the skirt hem and cape formed lovely flowing lines when twirling, creating an intriguing contrast between soft movement and the rigid lines of the prop sword. The photo with mecha SAM behind me was a delightful surprise—that silver-gray heavy armor possessed immense presence, creating a stark visual contrast of "softness meets strength" as if truly standing on the deck of the Astral Express.

To be honest, whenever cosplaying in intricate, multi-layered costumes at conventions, the most exhausting part is detail maintenance—keeping the collar straight, straps secure, and wig neat. But the moment I saw the final photos, every bit of effort felt entirely worth it. The venue of this Mengxiang Expo was airy and bright; corridor lighting suited creating a cool, slightly futuristic effect. Photographer friends helped capture many candid moments without forcing exaggerated poses, fitting the character's "still waters run deep" aura nicely.

In terms of fabric choices, the sheer tulle on the main skirt was spliced with structured fabrics across the chest, so the skirt fluttered gently when walking. The gradient print on the tights produced subtle reflections under live lights, enriching visual layers through fabric refraction even without skin exposure. Although the prop sword was lightweight, holding it for long periods still strained my wrist; luckily, the sword's patterns matched the teal-gold trims on the skirt hem, yielding high visual unity.

The convention environment was bustling, yet putting on the wig and costume naturally pulled me into the perspective of a star-sea wanderer. Compared to vibrant colors, I prefer this restrained palette of teal, white, gray, and blue, making one appear pure and distinct. Eye makeup avoided heavy eyeshadow, relying instead on elongated eyeliner with subtle reddish-brown highlights to make the gaze look sharper. Keeping a clean jawline during shooting complemented the draping curve of the wig.

My favorite result from these Convention photos is the interactive photo with my mecha partner. We adjusted our positioning multiple times to ensure his greatsword didn't block my face while making my gestures and posture create an extended line of action. Though I was the only one facing forward in the lens, the atmosphere of fighting side by side was effectively conveyed through composition. Sharing these photos serves as a keepsake for this convention trip, as well as a record of my attempts and dedication to this character.
