Night photography is actually quite difficult to control, especially when trying to beautifully capture both the metallic texture of the steel bridge structure and the distant city lights at the same time. This time, I specially chose to do this Firefly cosplay during the Blue Hour as a little challenge for myself, but the finished photos turned out to have exactly the right vibe.

The shooting location this time was a steel structure bridge across a river. Its geometric lines and heavy rivets formed a wonderful contrast with Firefly's outfit, which features both a sense of technology and elegant, flowing elements. In terms of lighting, to suppress the background brightness and preserve the deep blue of the sky, a slightly higher-powered flash was used for fill light. This allowed the subject to pop out from the complex night scene while preserving the natural texture of the skin. If you find the face looking dim during night photography, you can actually try casting a soft light toward the forehead using a fill light or flash, which will yield a qualitative improvement in the results.

Regarding the makeup, styling, and poses, this outfit of Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail has quite a lot of details. The hair strands and accessories easily get messed up by the wind outdoors, so I spent a long time tidying them up before we started shooting. While trying to recreate her cool, aloof, yet somewhat determined temperament, I intentionally designed several different movements. For instance, leaning against the slanting steel pillars of the bridge and looking out at the distant city lights creates an atmosphere of quietly telling a story. Poses like gently fixing my hair or leaning forward slightly with hands clasped in front were all meant to complement her delicate and introspective personality from the original work.

For the post-processing color grading, I preserved the cool tones of the vast nightscape and added a subtle cyan-blue filter to the frames, which better highlights the white hair and the blue-and-white details on the costume. The overall atmosphere matches perfectly with the caption line: \"When we meet again, I will pretend we have never met.\" Although the wind on the bridge was quite strong during this session, costing us a lot of time to repeatedly adjust positions and lighting, seeing these images captured in the night of the steel jungle makes everything completely worth it for this piece of Cosplay photography.
