When I put on this outfit, I felt that the mottled tree shadows of this garden paired perfectly with this stiff black-and-white jacket. To recreate that cool detachment and effortless ease of Yixuan in Zenless Zone Zero as much as possible, the makeup this time was intentionally not made too heavy, focusing instead on emphasizing the eye contours and the depth of the pupil color. The white wig paired with that signature black wavy hair accessory on the forehead can be called the soul of the entire look, instantly maximizing the character's recognizability.
In terms of clothing, this waist-cinching jacket with a black patent leather texture is truly demanding on material and pattern silhouette. When making this outfit, the tailor and I repeatedly confirmed the stitching of that white trim along the collar, as well as the fastening method for the blue fabric flower ornament on the chest. This slightly glossy leather fabric is highly prone to reflection under outdoor natural light; I was a bit worried before that it might look greasy, but during the actual shoot, those few scattered rays falling through the gaps in the leaves conversely made the jacket's silhouette look more three-dimensional. The black-and-white strap design on the cuffs and the inner layer of flowing sleeves with faint purple totems looked incredibly agile with every movement.
The weather on the day of the shoot was actually very muggy and hot, so standing outdoors in this long-sleeved jacket was definitely a physical workout. However, to capture those few dozen minutes of soft afternoon light, we gritted our teeth and started shooting. People usually look at this type of character and think they are aloof or unapproachable, but when I interpreted her myself, I wanted to bring out a bit of real-life relaxation. After all, her background setting should carry a temperament of quiet guarding. Therefore, when I pressed my finger to my lips and lowered my gaze, I intentionally retained a bit of focused intensity in my eyes, keeping the frame from looking too forced or unnatural for this outdoor cosplay project.
The photographer is excellent at grabbing moments under such natural light and shadow—backlighting, sidelighting, and the depth brought by the wooden railings in front all added a natural filter to the entire set of photos. The white skirt hem would lift slightly into a just-right curve when the breeze brushed past, forming a visual collision with the opaque black tights. Although we only shot in this one scene this time, when looking back at the raw proofs, I found that the variations in light and shadow were even richer than imagined. Lacking those complex softboxes, it instead relied on the boundary between light and dark in the natural environment to clearly outline the character's silhouette.
From the initial styling setup to the actual shoot, a lot of effort went into adjusting the accessories back and forth. The hair and makeup needed to cooperate with the character's personality baseline—not flamboyant, yet every detail can withstand close scrutiny. I hope this set of Yixuan, imbued with a touch of natural vitality yet tightly wrapped in sharp black leather, lets everyone see my dedication to cosplay.
