Railway tracks and platforms under the sun are inherently perfect places for outdoor location shoots. This shoot, ideal for a Guangzhou photography companion arrangement, was set at a tram platform in Guangzhou, with ideal sunshine and the air filled with the refreshing scent of spring. While doing the makeup and styling, I was really looking forward to the texture of this gradient wig under natural light. The overall gradient from silvery-white to mint green actually turned out cool-toned in the shoot, which, paired with reddish-brown colored contacts, truly makes my gaze look like it has more of a story to tell.

In terms of clothing, a classic Japanese JK uniform sailor suit was prepared. The white short top featured a waist-baring design, and the cyan bowknot at the collar echoed the color of the wig ends. Paired with a dark blue plaid pleated skirt, white over-the-knee socks, dark brown thick-soled lace-up leather shoes, and carrying that academy-style dark brown uniform bag, the overall campus vibe and anime atmosphere were completely maximized.

Regarding the makeup, a lot of thought went into emphasizing the translucency of the base makeup, as it's easy to get washed out under bright outdoor light. The eye makeup featured some detailed blending, using brown eyeliner to deepen the contour, which, paired with the colored contacts, presents a highly three-dimensional eye structure in front of the lens. The blush selected was a faint contouring color to balance out the cool tones of the wig, making the overall match look a bit more natural.

The photographer helped me try out compositions at several spots on the platform. In the shot sitting on the bench, the sunlight strikes my body with the schoolbag placed beside me, presenting a relatively relaxed state. Later we moved next to the traffic signal light. The lighting at that position was actually quite complex, but fortunately, the natural light angle was just right, and the red indicator light serving as one of the background elements unexpectedly added an interesting color contrast to the frame, overlapping warm and cold tones.

I actually really love the few shots walking along the edge of the platform; the background features orderly steel rails, distant green mountains, and blue skies, giving a very open field of view. The warm sun outlines the silhouette of the white top very clearly, capturing the badge details of the sailor suit and the floating movement of the skirt hemline. The photographer's utilization of natural light and shadow was spot on, trying best to avoid the dark shadows from the platform roof, making my skin tone look clean and bright. There was basically no heavy-handed post-processing, yielding a high level of texture accuracy.

Because I wanted to express a relaxed, everyday atmosphere, I didn't intentionally strike too many exaggerated poses; most were natural states like looking back, looking into the lens, slightly turning the body, or standing while holding the bag. This sense of realism actually fits the "Spring souvenir" theme much better. The preparation of gear and props was also highly true to character accuracy, trying hard to close the distance from the original design in details, from the cyan bowknot on the headpiece to the uniform bag.

When communicating with the photographer, we hoped this set of photos could reflect both the character's inherent cool detachment and touch upon some warm daily life in reality. The weather on the day of the shoot was wonderful, and all the scenes were as clear and bright as if they had a built-in filter. Oh, right, when the platform got crowded, we would wait out a wave of foot traffic just to capture a clean and soothing background. This set of photos should be considered one of my highly satisfying outdoor shoots recently; from outfits and makeup to the shooting cooperation, everything was in perfect sync. I hope everyone enjoys this light and shadow ambient feel of our cosplay session.
