This time, I prepared a poolside photoshoot styling for Rem, a character whose recognition in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is unmistakable. For this shoot, considerable prep work was done in advance. The wig is a light-blue short bob cut, paired with a blue headband and a pink X-shaped hairpin, with neatly trimmed straight bangs.
For the outfit, I selected a swimsuit incorporating sailor collar elements. The core piece is a blue-and-white striped bikini, overlaid with a translucent sailor-collared sheer chiffon top, paired with the iconic yellow ribbon tie and red-and-white bow accents. The lower body features a light-colored mini skirt and sheer White stockings. This pairing creates a refreshing sensation by the water, and the visual texture of White stockings submerged in water was a key highlight I wanted to present in this photoshoot.
We faced quite a few challenges during the shoot. Sunlight reflecting off the water surface was intense, putting exposure control to the test, and splashed water easily caused the styled wig to lose its shape. Holding a blue-and-white swim ring paired with a yellow wristband enriched the color palette of the frame. Choosing the fourth photo holding daisies as the cover was because its composition was the most centered, with the most stable facial expression and lighting.
During shooting, attention had to be paid to how the stockings behaved in water—once wet, they clung tightly to the skin with an enhanced glossy sheen. Entering the water made the translucent sheer layer of the swimsuit heavier when soaked, demanding extra care with body movements. To ensure a clean frame, we mainly utilized water surface reflections and distant urban backdrops to create spatial depth without clutter.
This look boasts high color fidelity under outdoor lighting, and splashing water droplets vividly evoked a crisp summer atmosphere. Though the shoot was exhausting, the final results achieved the exact refreshing summer Pool party vibe I envisioned.
