[Hikari cosplay] Fountain travel photo shoot: Sinnoh Girl from Pokémon

Today, I brought Piplup along to complete this Hikari cosplay shoot by the fountain, and the whole experience was fantastic. To prepare this outfit, I did quite a bit of homework in advance. The dark blue wig was trimmed with neat straight bangs and layered ends; once the white beanie was on, the yellow semicircular hair clips on both sides popped prominently. For the costume, a black sleeveless vest was layered over a white inner top, paired with a pink multi-tiered ruffled miniskirt that fluttered with a lovely arc during movements and jumps. The red scarf was the soul accessory—long enough to billow gracefully in the breezy waterside setting. On my legs, I wore black knee-high Stockings paired with pink knee-high boots, which contoured my leg lines while providing striking visual contrast during mid-air leaps. To reflect her identity as a Pokémon Trainer and Coordinator, I brought along a blue-and-white little penguin plushie, as well as a light-blue thermos printed with penguin patterns and text, a canvas tote bag, and acrylic charms.

The shoot took place in front of a grand outdoor fountain. The splashing water created a wonderfully dynamic backdrop, though it also heightened the shooting difficulty. Under direct sunlight, I had to ensure even lighting on my face to prevent the beanie brim and bangs from casting excessive shadows. I experimented with various jumping and balancing poses, such as taking off on one leg, spreading my arms wide, and flashing cheerful hand gestures. To make the lines of the black Stockings and boots stand out in the composition, the photographer used a slightly low angle to complement my outstretched limbs, successfully capturing the exact moment the skirt flared amid splashing water.

This character styling looked remarkably vibrant under natural sunlight; the color contrast of red, blue, pink, and black packed tremendous visual punch against the white curtain of the fountain. Throughout the session, fine-tuning wardrobe details and managing facial expressions were essential to capturing her signature, energetic charm. I hope this set of photos conveys all the vitality and sprightliness of the character.
