This time I'm cosplaying Madoka Kaname, specifically the version from Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising. I specially chose a light pink twin-tail wig that comes with its own hair bows, and I'm quite satisfied with how the overall color replication turned out. The dress features a short puffy skirt in the front with a long train attached to the back. It looks incredibly sweet from the front, but the train section is honestly so long and thin, and the lace mesh fabric is super easy to get snagged on things.
To be honest, when I first put it on, I was still thinking about how to maintain my elegance. But after taking a few mirror selfies, I didn't lift my heel high enough as I turned around and stepped straight onto the lace edge of the train. I instantly heard a 'rip' sound, and looking down, there was indeed a hole torn into it—my heart completely skipped a beat. This train is just too fragile; I guess the weave of the lace mesh itself is quite sparse, making it prone to tearing with even a little force. So while taking these photos, I was carefully controlling my stance the entire time, trying my best not to let the skirt hem pile up under my feet. Fortunately, the rip is located at the bottom of the back, so it's not noticeable from the front, though I'll probably have to patch it up myself later.
The overall details of this Anime-style outfit are actually very thoughtful. The large pink bow on the chest and the rows of buttons down the middle have a great texture, and the sleeves are a translucent, off-the-shoulder lace style. Paired with white over-the-knee socks and red Mary Janes, the overall palette gives off a very vibrant Pink Lolita and girly vibe. My plans for an outdoor shoot have to be temporarily shelved, so I'll just record the indoor state of this dress for now and consider a location shoot after the hole is mended. Despite this little mishap during my casual cosplay routine, wearing this outfit truly makes me feel like Madoka's tenderness and determination are being passed on to me, making it a very special experience.
