This time I tried Wakaba Mutsumi's cosplay, specially choosing this pure white outfit with Lolita elements. Regarding this character, I added some of my own understanding and original design elements, which might be a bit OOC, so I hope everyone can be understanding.

The biggest surprise of this outfit for me is the design at the shoulders. By utilizing layered ruffles and a slight upward curve, it simulates a visual effect similar to small angel wings. To maintain this fluffy feel, I specially used a bit of setting spray and hidden snaps to fix it before the shoot, so it wouldn't collapse when walking outdoors. There are many cross-straps and lace details on the chest, which need to be carefully arranged when wearing to ensure every strap is in the right position; slight asymmetry would make it look less refined. The fabric choice leans toward a material that has drape yet can hold its shape, giving it good texture in front of the lens.

Regarding the wig, a light mint green tone was chosen, the blunt bangs were trimmed, and it was straightened, aiming to restore that quiet and even somewhat aloof doll-like feel of the character. The thinning treatment at the hair ends was also adjusted to avoid looking too heavy. In terms of makeup, I increased the fairness of the base makeup, paired it with light-colored contact lenses, reduced the area of blush, kept the eye makeup as clean and sharp as possible with a strong emphasis on individual eyelashes, bringing the overall facial expression closer to the character's slight sense of detachment.

The shooting location was divided into two parts. For the outdoor set, I specifically found a patch of woods and darkened the background, even applying some black-and-white processing, which better highlights the pure white of the clothes and the character's hair color, creating a stronger visual tension through contrast. The composition of the first picture focuses mainly on the upper body; since the background has been desaturated, the visual focus falls entirely on the facial makeup and shoulder styling. Indoors, a simple white wall was found, mainly to showcase the full-body skirt tiers, white stockings, and platform shoes. There are many folds in the skirt hem; to support this multi-layered fluffy texture, a proper petticoat was matched underneath. One must be careful not to step on it while walking, but it looks extremely pretty when spinning around. The gloves are made of long satin material with heart-shaped details, giving a wonderful atmosphere when raising hands to block the face.

During the shooting process, because the outdoor lighting was relatively complex, I adjusted the angles several times to get a satisfactory effect. When shooting indoors, to avoid the pure white background swallowing the character's silhouette, special attention was paid to outlining rim light during lighting setup so that the details of the white stockings and shoes could also be clearly displayed. Although some self-interpreted modifications were made, I hope to convey the unique quiet atmosphere of this character.

A lot of thought went into everything from costume fitting to makeup and styling adjustments. Lolita-style dresses really require a bit of patience in maintenance, especially the ironing and organizing of multi-layered ruffles. This shooting process was very interesting; the combination of light-and-shadow and the black-and-white background gave the raw photos great texture right away. I hope to have the opportunity to try more different styles of outfits in the future and record these interesting photography experiences.
