The Convention photos from CP31 are finally organized! With Bilibili World (BW) coming up next on my schedule, I picked a few favorite shots taken back at CP31 to share. Shooting this Lynette Angel Garden cosplay look on the convention day actually took quite a bit of time. The White stockings and lace materials on the costume get dirty easily, and with the heavy foot traffic at the venue, finding clean shooting spots took some effort. Furthermore, because White stockings reflect light very easily, it truly tested the photographer's control of on-site lighting, making the time spent adjusting positions longer than expected.
Special thanks to wig stylist Lingxi for the look preparation. We spent a long time adjusting the curve of the cat-ear hairpieces, not only to fit the Angel Garden cosplay theme, but also to look more vivid on camera. Additionally, You Ran Chao Ji Zhi cleverly helped secure the cat ears, as it was slightly windy outside that day. For makeup and styling, aligned with Genshin Impact's Lynette character setting, I chose light blonde hair with a mint green gradient. This color palette demands a lot from one's skin tone, so the base makeup was applied very sheer so it wouldn't look heavy under natural outdoor lighting. To match the character's eye color, I selected pinkish-purple contact lenses so my gaze would remain expressive even from a distance.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was actually a bit harsh. To capture the softness of an angel theme, photographer Mingtiao Vogt utilized the venue's architectural structure and ambient convention light for diffusion and bounce lighting. The bar stool composition was also conceived on the spot: with so many people around, a higher camera angle kept the background cleaner, effectively bypassing the chaotic crowd. The combination of White stockings and strappy heels shown in the photos was quite exhausting after walking around the convention floor all day, but to embody the character's blend of elegance and playfulness, I did my best to maintain good posture before the camera. The rhinestones on the shoe straps sparkled brilliantly under the flash, making them perfect for studio shoots or bright outdoor plazas.
The cat pose in the second photo was an impromptu pose struck during a break to add liveliness and interaction, as standing for too long had made me a bit stiff. The standout features of this Angel Garden outfit are the delicate blue blossoms and pearl embellishments on the bodice and hem, which look wonderfully refined paired with white tulle lace. Perching on the stool allowed the layered skirt to fill out the frame. The tulle hem was easily caught by the wind, so to ensure the positioning of the White stockings and the skirt was just right, we had to reshoot it multiple times.
In fact, right after CP31, this outfit was dry-cleaned and organized, ready to be worn again at BW. To ensure the best presentation, I've been fine-tuning details recently, such as snag-proofing the stockings and improving shoe comfort, since spending a full day at a convention takes enormous physical endurance. Although high-intensity cosplaying is tiring, every time I see Convention photos that everyone loves, all the preparation feels completely worthwhile. Among the three photos shared this time, I feel the full-body shot on the bar stool best showcases the overall structure of this costume, with the leg lines accentuated by the strappy design looking especially slender. My biggest takeaway from this shoot is that a great cosplay set relies on teamwork. From prop prep and makeup testing beforehand to on-site lighting and angle adjustments, every step requires dedicated care. Particularly with these White stockings and lace skirt, a little negligence creates wrinkles, requiring extensive prep in the dressing room. Sometimes the photographer laid flat on the ground for a long time just to get that perfect angle. Although tedious, being immersed in the character brings a truly special sense of focus. These photos capture my state of mind back then, and I hope to create even more wonderful memories like this at BW.
