The choice of shooting location took quite some time to materialize, ultimately settling on an indoor venue featuring a massive steel-structure ceiling and glass curtain walls. The floor had a smooth, reflective finish; utilizing the cool tones of incoming natural light along with the shadows in the dimmer areas worked wonders to recreate that cold, metallic atmosphere characteristic of the cyberpunk world.
During pre-shoot communications with the photographer, we decided right away to focus on a Techwear aesthetic. The texture of this latex suit is exceptionally unique—though black, it has a very high gloss, making it extremely sensitive to lighting angles. To highlight the red accent lines and form-fitting cut of the outfit, we tested multiple lighting setups. Eventually, we found that using side rim lighting to carve out the edge contours, paired with a slightly dimmer frontal fill light, kept the suit looking sleek and glossy without appearing overly shiny.
The separate white sleeve design is quite distinctive. Since it takes up considerable space in the frame, I took great care in adjusting the positioning of its folds to ensure it wouldn't obstruct my waistline while adding a touch of lightness to the overall silhouette. The tactical thigh holster was another crucial detail; it broke up the monotony of the black knee-high boots and added three-dimensional depth. The boots were stiff and well-fitted, which, combined with the exposed thigh area, visually lengthened the legs and made my body lines appear even more slender on camera.
For the makeup, to match the character's disposition, I selected cool-toned colored contacts and intensified the dark red smudging around the eyes, complementing the pink-and-cyan gradient at the tips of the silver hair for strong visual impact. The hairstyle was layered with deliberate flyaways that gave off a psychedelic halo under the light filtering in from outside. I spent a long time in front of the mirror tweaking the eyeliner shape just to give the eyes that extra sharpness.
Regarding posing, even in a kneeling position, the tilt of my torso and height of my arm were tested repeatedly to convey a sense of poised, dynamic tension. The gesture of raising one hand toward the air was designed to coordinate with the yellow light ribbon composited in post-production, making it look as though I were manipulating code woven from light. This pose required considerable core strength, and supporting myself on the hard floor with my knees hurt quite a bit over time. To maintain clean waist and abdominal lines, I monitored my diet starting a week before the shoot, but fortunately the effort paid off—I'm thrilled with how I looked in the final shots.
The venue was quite crowded during the shoot. To avoid messy backgrounds, we scouted numerous angles, using structural beams and architectural frames to block out distractions and keep the composition clean. For one shot, I even had to balance on uneven steps to achieve the desired height. Capturing the lighting took effort as well: we had to keep the subject properly illuminated while preserving that cold blue-gray tone in the background.
During post-processing, I intentionally retained natural skin texture without over-smoothing, aiming for a more authentic and impactful cyber style. Subtle adjustments were made to the background's cool tones to keep the overall color palette cohesive and balanced. We spent a long time fine-tuning the curves of the light ribbon so its motion path wrapping around the body felt natural and fluid.
Overall, from initial conception, costume fitting, and location scouting to Anime-style photography and post-processing, every step served to faithfully recreate that unique world. Through the repeated adjustment of every detail, I felt a closer connection to the character's determined survival in a high-tech city. This set is rich in compositional and lighting design details, especially the dynamic beauty conveyed through the backline and posture. I'm extremely satisfied with the lighting effects and texture of this version, as it captures the cold yet alluring essence of cyberpunk.
