Taking advantage of the freshly released convention photos from CP and AP, I submitted my application on the very last day—this 'according to plan' feeling is amazing! I brought a few looks of different styles to the convention this time, and the resulting photos turned out quite satisfying. Although the Firefly independent travel is officially locked in, honestly, I still haven't decided which character to cosplay yet. Maybe I'll just see what catches my eye at the venue and make a makeshift decision? After all, the greatest joy of independent travel is the spontaneity.
Looking through these convention photos, a lot of effort went into the outfits, makeup, and props for each set. For instance, with that blue and white magical girl style look, the sequins on the skirt hem and the metallic trim look high-quality under the flash. There's also the black-and-gold patterned improved cheongsam, which, paired with a round fan and platform shoes, makes me feel like I'm walking on air. The light-blue Japanese-style outfit paired with a large folding fan is highly photogenic under the light and shadow of the glass corridor. The bright red New Year-themed outfit with couplets is festive and lively. Lastly, the black and white maid outfit and that blue-haired swimsuit look provide a completely different, casual daily vibe.
In fact, convention photography tests on-site snapshot abilities the most—you have to dodge the chaotic crowds while keeping the character's expression on point. The photographer this time was great at finding angles, capturing all the layers and details of the outfits. The post-processing didn't use excessive filters either, preserving the authentic feel I like.
Since I've successfully secured the ticket for Firefly, next is just waiting peacefully for May Day. See you in Guangzhou then! I hope to run into more interesting friends in the venue and enjoy the anime carnival atmosphere together. Although the character isn't set, the anticipation is already maxed out, and I'm ready to improvise based on gut feeling when the time comes.
