The on-site photos from Chengdu World Line are finally retouched, capturing Operator Mai Xiaowen from Delta Force. The convention photos were taken at the adjacent park waterscape during the event; the weather was fantastic with gorgeous cloud layers. To fit the tactical operator setting, considerable thought went into the gear. The base layer is a tight black tank top under an army green tactical jacket—worn casually slung off one shoulder to evoke an effortless field vibe. The lower half features camo cargo shorts paired with Black stockings and garter straps, rounded off with black platform lace-up boots that visually elongated body proportions significantly. The black tactical half-mask and headset comms on the face were crucial for character accuracy, with the '17' numeral detail on the side of the mask custom-made. Holding a prop submachine gun, both bracing and aiming required steady, locked-in postures to keep movements from looking flimsy. Special thanks to Fei Zong for providing the smoke grenades; though subtle in volume, they brought that perfect lingering scent of battlefield smoke, adding immense cinematic mood to the frames.
Throughout the shoot, I explored diverse postures: standing, one-knee kneeling, and a deep-crouch aiming stance. That deep crouch genuinely demanded intense core stability, requiring multiple takes to capture a crisp, ruthless instant. Professional convention photography not only demands precise gestures, but also imposing eye contact while constantly monitoring fabric folds and gun handling. Low-angle upward shots were frequently utilized in this Tactical style cosplay to stretch the leg lines and amplify overall presence. For color grading, post-processing leaned toward a cool, desaturated cyan-blue palette to reinforce the tactical techwear atmosphere. Outdoor shoots are heavily influenced by natural ambient light; to keep the subject popping, the photographer balanced fill lights meticulously so the textures of both the Black stockings and the tactical hardware stood out sharply. With so many gear components, maneuvering and posing at the convention floor required constant adjustment, but the final visual payoff completely met expectations. Overall, I am very pleased with these convention photos and thoroughly enjoyed the visual impact of tactical styling in an outdoor setting, looking forward to experimenting with even more lighting and compositions next time.
